Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
I actually enjoy my job. As a fellow teacher, I am definitely looking forward to the summer off to spend more time with DS but it was ok for me to go back to work in September because we have a good schedule. I think I am a better mom because I work.

Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
My SIL couldn't wait to go back! She loves her son to no end but according to her, she isn't cut out to be a SAHM.
Looking forward to getting back into your normal routine and into the career you enjoy doesn't make you a bad mom at all

Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
I was excited to go back to work I thought my mommy brain was broken so I took a week of AJ being in Daycare while I was home.. and I was still just fine.
*shrug*
I love my kiddo lots.. but I like my life before she was born. I like it more with her IN my life but that doesnt mean I want to just ignore all the friends and feelings of accomplishment that work gave me.
I felt no 'tug' when I was at work that first week. I didn't cry. Sure I bragged but honestly there came a point that first week when I wanted folks to leave me alone so I could WORK and get home to her already.

Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
I'm one of those who does the heel click as she dashes to her car in the morning. I am a terrible SAHM and love working.
That said, I was part-time and the girls were generally at home with DH while I was at work (which is 3 minutes away).
Talk to me this fall when I go back after maternity and have to work full-time and leave my 3 with a babysitter 3x a week.

Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
OMG after a year off I was so ready and happy to be going back to work!! I had a great childcare situation and while I love being with my kid, being home with him was hard work! I enjoy my job and my friends at work...so I was fine with it. I am that lady visiting the office with the baby every other week going out to lunch, seeing whats going on workwise etc...I miss my work friends!!

Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
I think that since we are both in education and our job has an "end", at least for a short period of time, it's easier.
I actually was happy to go back to work and would work even if I didn't have to, at least part time. I know I need to for my own sanity.

Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
I was fine with going back and I was only home for 13 weeks. There is nothing to feel bad about if you are going back to a job you enjoy, that is great!

Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
I am going back in about a week after 2.5 years of being a sAHM. I am ready. I'm sure I'll cry the first day I leave him at daycare, but I am ready.

Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
OMG I'm crying right now just thinking about it and it's still 2.5 months away!!!! I actuallly went to school to pack my stuff before summer today and feel so overwhelmed that summer is here. I, like you, feel my maternity leave is over and it's now just summer vacation.
I am somewhat looking forward to going back only b/c it's something new (going from elem to MS) but other than that, I'm going to die when I leave Kenny at daycare for the first time.

Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
Honestly, DD was SOOO collicky and fussy, that I kind of looked forward to going back to work!! That's not to say I wasn't having pangs of guilt and missing her when I was at work...
Now...the pangs of guilt are gone, I kind of enjoy my me time...but the truth is NOW that she's more self-sufficient and more able to interact...I wish I was home more....

Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
I am returning to work Monday after being home for almost 5 months. I have mixed feelings about returning. I know that I am not cut out to be a SAHM and I am looking forward to going back to work. However, I have a job that is extremely demanding time-wise (I worked 50-60 hour weeks before I had DS) and I was hoping to cut my hours, but my request was denied. So, I want to work and I am looking forward to going back to work, but I do not want to work 60 hour weeks!

Re: Was anyone OK about going back to work?
I was SO VERY READY to go back to work. The first day was hard but I was lucky that my mom was watching DS for us so that made it so much easier.
