Washing Machine - Recommend yours or what to avoid?
We need a new washing machine. I'm looking for possibly energy efficient - and I don't need the steam setting or fancy touch pad- just simple.
TIA!

We have the Whirlpool Cabrio washer & dryer set and I LOVE THEM!!
The washer is a top loading HE machine, no agitator and it can fit my queen comforter as well as run 2-3 loads combined.

Ditto this!
I love that I don't have to deal with leaving the door open to let it air out either like so many front loader owners have to do.

I do NOT recommend the Whirlpool Duet. We have had it for 6 months and already had to have a warrenty repair on it. The worst issue is that it somehow rips our clothes during the spin cycle becuase they get caught in the front door gasket. I will never buy a front loader washer again!

Re: Washing Machine - Recommend yours or what to avoid?
I do NOT recommend GE. Our GE front loader that was bought in July 2009 went bad just before Christmas 2010. The control board needed to be replaced. DH and I decided to forget about fixing it (would it happen again in another 16 months?) and as I type this I am waiting for Home Depot to arrive with our new Maytag.
Little did we know, the sales people have told us GE is not good with laundry products but their kitchen stuff is fine (our house came with a GE stove and never had a problem. Go figure.). Oh, and our washer/dryer set was a wedding gift from MIL but she did not get us the extended warranty plan. So basically half of her wedding gift is gone already.

Maytag/Whirlpools are typically great washers and dryers
