Waxing down there

Is anyone going to get waxed down there before the baby comes?

It's getting harder and harder to shave. Last time my DH helped me but that was an awkward situation...Chat Icon .

This time I was thinking of getting a Brazilian.

What are you doing? If you are getting a brazilian wax - where are you going?

Re: Waxing down there

I started going to European wax center around the 20 week mark of my first pregnancy and have been going ever since. I get the bikini full and it's so much easier than shaving, lasts so much longer, etc. Of course it's not the most fun 5 minutes ever but I'm always glad once it's done.

Waxing down there

With my first I tried to go around 30 weeks to European wax center. They told me be careful, it can adtually induce labor somehow. It happened to one of their clients. That scared me enough to not do it.

Maybe I would do it at like 38/39 weeks.

Re: Waxing down there

I went to my normal waxer, Dee Dee, in Centereach at Daisy Spa about three days before my scheduled cesarean. Once I got a look at the anesthesiologist's PA, who was drop-dead gorgeous, I was NOT going in there without a fresh brazilian, a manicure, pedicure, and make up on LOL.

It was fine - I mean, I get waxed once every 4-6 weeks for the last three or so years but it was good. I could not take any pain meds before obviously because I was PG -- normally I would take a good dose of Aleve which does help with the pain but I had to just suck it up.

It was great because then several weeks after he was born I didn't have to worry. Easy peasy and nice and clean. Especially when you get the mother-load of periods afterwards.

I recently went to the European Wax Center. They were good - and are great in a pinch but I do love my Dee Dee most of all.

Waxing down there

I just got a Brazilian about a week ago and it will definitely get me through labor/delivery (I'm 38 weeks). I just feel cleaner when its done, not to mention if I need stitches or anything after birth, I'd like the doctor to be able to see exactly what they are doing! I'm super specific about where I go -- used to go to European Wax Centers but was never really happy. I now go to Sonia's Waxing Plus -- there is a Roslyn and a Huntington location. It's owned by a group of sisters from Brazil who wax you quicker than a NASCAR crew changing a tire. The whole thing was done in like 8 minutes. Its a bit expensive but each wax lasts me about 5-6 weeks. You get a discount if its your first time there and if you book your next appointment for 4-5 weeks, you get 10% off the price. Definitely worth it.

HAHAHA!! This is what I need!

I actually just got my c-section date today so maybe I will schedule the wax the week before.

Dani - I was also thinking it would be very nice to be clean and smooth for after the birth too.

Waxing down there

I need to get something done because I would just freestyle and shave without looking since I can't see past my bump, but since it's so sensitive right now I'm scared.

It is just one less thing to worry about until things start to return to normal which takes a few weeks -- especially with the heavy bleeding some people experience afterwards. I don't need to be like a national forest down there with blood and everything else. That's a hot mess so I figured, if I can avoid this, I will! Chat Icon

They don't use waxing strips/cloth to pull the wax off. The wax itself hardens and is yellowish in color -- I believe it's sugar and honey based. I've never gotten a single ingrown hair from them and I have very sensitive skin. I HIGHLY recommend Sonia's -- everyone I have gone to is great.

I'm letting you know now that it is even more painful the closer you are to birth simply because your goods are already swollen. Sit on an ice pack before you go!

Oh yeah my waxer has me lay down during it.

You kind of spread your legs while laying down, like a frog.

Then some centers will have you go on your stomach while they do the assshole (lol) but my waxer just has me put my legs straight up in the air and she does the assshole that way.

So funny this whole process.

Re: Waxing down there

I'm bumping this because I have another TMI question for those that answered and suggested a place to go.

Does it matter how long the hair is down there before you go to get waxed? Like is there such a thing as too long? Chat Icon

I'll be honest - it's been almost 3 months since I've been able to shave. Chat Icon

Yes! It does matter. It can't be too long. I don't know what exact length is acceptable lol but I usually shave like a week or two before I go.

Oyy - this is going to be a problem! I can probably trim with scissors to shorten the length.

That's a good idea! Because you don't want it too short either.

Re: Waxing down there

I've never gotten a brazilian. I'm too chicken lol. But I did get the Bliss Spa Trim & Bare It razor a few years ago and I've been using that. It has all sorts of attachments and I've been able to shorten and trim the hair to be presentable.

Yes, length does matter. The longer the hair, the more it hurts! If it's too long, when they smear the wax on, the hair will pull. Definitely scissor trim to get rid of excess. It will make the experience much more "enjoyable" (if you can consider putting hot wax on your genitals enjoyable - ha!) Definitely go to the place I recommended -- Sonia's Waxing Plus!

I would check with the location you are going to first. I went to Shobha in the city and they actually advertise that the longer the hair the better ... they trim it to where it needs to be. If it's too short then it can work against you as well.
