We are in tooth brushing hell!
It's a daily battle. It's getting worse not better. WE have a screaming thrashing battle twice a day. Any suggestions or creative techniques for how you got your toddlers to brush? I appreciate any help you can suggest.

Do you pretend to look for characters in her mouth? e.g. "Oh look I see Dora! Let me help you out of the cavity pit with my toothbrush" or whatever you can think of that she'll like.

Re: We are in tooth brushing hell!
Sounds silly but I tell my son "uh oh I see a buggy in your mouth" and then as I'm brushing his teeth I "yell" at the buggy to get out of his mouth, he laughs and the job gets done.

not silly at all, we started with characters like Barb, then actually called them germs, I would make noises of the germs suffering as they get brushed away.
Like "oh no, dont get me mr. toothbrush".
Ryan thought it was hysterical and loved the "game".

I got one of the spin brushes with Diego on it for Ry. It made it much easier to brush since it does all the work, and he was intrigued by the noise it made.
Have you tried brushing her teeth in the bathtub? Maybe she will be so distracted by playing in the tub that she will let you brush more easily.

Re: We are in tooth brushing hell!
when my son was small, he held one tooth brush in each hand, and I had one to brush. He would brush a bit and then I would brush with mine. I found it easier to have his hands full with a brush in each. I would say, "Mommy's turn....your turn....Mommy's turn, etc"

Re: We are in tooth brushing hell!
Both my kids resisted until they were nearly 3 I would let them do it themselves, and then when I tried to go in after them, they clamped shut! Eventually the looking for Elmo worked, and once my son went to the dentist for the first time, he really understood how important it was.

Re: We are in tooth brushing hell!
it was a battle around here for a long time - screaming, crying, headlocks.
Ella's just getting better with it now. She brushes my teeth first, and then lets me brush hers.
One thing that helped was having a book where the character brushes and has "white shiny teeth". Whenever she had a good brushing night we'd praise her, and comment on her white shiny teeth.

Re: We are in tooth brushing hell!
We have tried EVERYTHING!!!! DD is so stubborn. So her teeth don't get a real good brushing most days. She is two and has her first dentist appointment next week. I'm hoping they can work some kind of miracle on her.
