We lost one of our Siberian Huskies last night...
Our 5 yr old son accidentally let out one of our dogs last night and he was hit by a car and had to be put down.  We are so heartbroken it's unbelievable. We haven't stopped crying. We've had him since before having our kids. We were following him for 2 hours and he just wouldn't come to us when we called him. Huskies are known to want to run so he did. He's gotten out several times before by accident since he's always looking to get out but we've always been able to bring him home safe. But not this time. The worst part is that I had to be the one to actually watch him get hit. It was so horrific. The sound and seeing it happen. I keep replaying it over and over in my head and it won't stop. He was a big part of our family and we all haven't stopped crying. And the jerk who hit him came flying out of our neighborhood and just hit him. They had plenty of time to see him and stop? I just don't understand what happened? They were probably drunk or on their cell phone. They were going so fast. It was an SUV. After they hit him, they just took off. How can you do that? How can they live with themselves??? And I had all 3 kids with me. We were driving all around trying to get him in the car for 2 hours and he wouldn't come.  The pain just won't go away. He was bleeding from the mouth and was trying so hard to get up off the street but he couldn't. We took him to the vet and they said his back was broken and that even if they could fix him, that he would never walk again. It was so hard to do, but we had to put him down. He was in so much pain.
3 years ago we had to put down another husky since she was bit by a copperhead snake. The infection was horrible. That was so hard too. My 5 year old doesn't understand and my 7 year old just cries for him. We're so heartbroken and sad and numb. It happened so quick....
Anyway, I just wanted you to see a picture of him and to let everyone know what an awesome dog he was and how much he was loved and will be missed.
I'm hysterically crying as I type this. It's just so surreal, you know?
Anyway, here he is, Mikho!!!  He's the red and white husky with blue eyes.

I cant even imagine the pain you and your family is going through Shame on those azzwipes for what they did...in hindsight I would have gotten their license plate number and made them be accountable Im so sorry for your loss...what a gorgeous dog

OMG! I am so so so sorry. I honestly can't imagine a worse way for it to happen. I'm sorry that you and your kids had to witness that and I can't believe they didn't stop. That makes me absolutely sick to my stomach!

That is SO SO sad. My heart is breaking for you and your family, for your sweet dog and for your kids who had to experience the whole thing.
The idiot who hit him! OMG! How do you hit a big animal and just speed off? And I wonder if he knew that the family saw the whole thing? It is too bad that you couldn't get a license plate number because I think it is against the law to hit a dog and drive off in New York State!
My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. Your children have a doggie angel now to look after them. I hope you are able to find peace in this difficult time.

Thank you soooo much everyone! I can't believe how incredibly hard this is. I still cry when I think about him. It's so different at home now without him. He was so close with all of my kids. He loved them like they were his puppies, lol. He was such a talker and now it's so quiet.

OMG. I am so heartbroken for you. How tragic and awful. You tried your hardest. You followed him until the end. You were there with him. You truly did your best.
What an awfully tragic loss. He was a beauty.
