Maybe I'm in the minority but I think doing these things (like putting his mattress in her room, or Donna sleeping in his room) is really just creating another habit that she will need to break down the road. I think it's better to just nip it in the bud as early as possible. You have been dealing with this for wayyyy too long and it's not healthy for anyone involved. You need your sleep (you are now a preggo with twins  ) - and he needs his sleep.
Call your Ped, Call a Profession, Call SuperNanny....I just think you need to call someone in who knows what they are doing to help you out...and not just for a short-term fix! 
I don't think you are in the minority and I agree, but I was just trying to offer another idea

I have his crib mattress on my floor.
at 20 months old, we did it because of the asthma and it was our first night of uninterrupted sleep.
he still doesn't really go to sleep though...its always a hit or miss.
when we move at the end of the month, he's moving into his room since its going to be asthma friendly. I can't wait to see what happens.
There is no way josh would ever cry to sleep.

I hope things get better  We have been having problems too so we have Andrew fall alseep in our bed then we carry him in his bed. This all started when DD was born so I am hoping this is just a phase.

he was yes....after I rocked him to sleep in his rocking chair..I transferred him. We made it till 4am...he woke up trying to climb out of the bed half asleep.... crying. So I brought him to bed with me.
I feel it was a "small step" in the right direction.
Gonna look into sleep professionals! ( if anyone knows any, PLEASE fm me!)
