Are you doing cereal or fruit/veggie?

I'd start with a tablespoon=2 teaspoons and see how it goes

Re: we started solids, but how much?
I started yesterday with 1 tablespoon mixed with 4 tablespoons of either water, formula or breastmilk, once a day. After 2 weeks I will up it to twice a day, and a few days after that I will start fruit and veggies. I will continue to BF and give DS formula as always...until he starts eating solids regularly.

Our ped told us to start with 1 Tablespoon of cereal and add breast milk (or formula or water) the first day (and that we could do it 2x a day) and then go to 2 Tablespoons the second day up to 4 Tablespoons by the 4th day. He also said that since DD is tiny she probably wouldn't eat that much and he was right! Now we mix cereal w/fruit/veggies so she never eats more than 2 tablespoons of cereal

That is my plan too minus the breastmilk. Did you son eat the entire bowl yesterday? Mine has only eaten about 1/2. Also did you give a bottle during or after?

My DS did eat the whole bowl. I was shocked! I gave sips of bottle every 5 or so spoonfuls. He then drank another 2 oz of forumla when he was done. So he definitely got full from the cereal.

He ate the whole bowl AND wanted more! He was so mad And yes, I BF after...he was nice and full and passed out shortly after that. They say to BF or bottle feed them before the cereal...I thought the opposite would work better and it did.

Re: we started solids, but how much?
my dr said something very similar we are starting 2 o of formula mixed with 4 tsps of cereal and then the remainder of what it is in the bottle for breakfast and dinner..... well whatever she will drink of it...
days 1- 3 rice cereal 4-6 oatmeal 7-9 barley
the apples, pears and bananas in whatever order for three days a piece mixed with whatever cereal i want.......... just to stay away from the rice and bananas all the time as it is binding!!!

That's so funny! He is quite the hungry little guy. I wanted to do the cereal before the bottle also since his routine at night is bath, bottle and bed. So tonight I'll give him a few sips of his bottle during the cereal, bath then rest of bottle.
