No he never really said a style he did or didn't like. After our ceremony I asked him if he had an idea of what I would wear, he said he knew strapless - he said "aren't all wedding dresses strapless?" Chat Icon Every wedding we had gone to the brides all wore strapless I guess.

DH really had no opinion..we pretty much have the same taste, so I knew he'd like whatever I picked out.

He had no idea what it looked like until our wedding day.

No, DH had no prefrence. He did say that a ball gown dress was to big for me. I am short. I just picked out what I liked.

Re: Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

I didn't even think about what he would say as I wanted to be comfortable in my dress & went with what I really liked....The dress I fell in love with, is the one I got! DH did tell me at one point, don't get a big dress.

I got a ballgown dress!!! On our unedited video, you hear him say to his brother "that is one big dress" Chat Icon Chat Icon

Nope! I never even discussed gown shopping with him b/c he could care less . . . all he cared about was that it wasn't too $$$$ (he lost on that point tooChat Icon ).

I knew I was getting a strapless dress. I also knew that my dh couldn't care less what I chose.

Re: Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

He had no opinion. He rarely buys me clothes b/c he knows that I have particular taste.

Leading up to the wedding, I would ask him what he thought it would look like and he was like....uh, I don't know.

It was also hanging in our apartment after my final fitting and before the wedding and he never even bothered to peek...

Re: Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

I knew DH didn't like big poufy dresses bc of comments he's made in the past. They weren't really my thing either, so it wasn't a big deal for me. I did try a couple on, but they didn't feel as "me" as the simpler lines I tried on. If I had fallen in love with a poufy dress - I probably wouldn't have gotten one. I wanted to look great for me, but also wanted my hubby to be wowed by what I looked like and he does have opinons on these sorts of things!

Re: Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

I haven;t been through this yet. In fact we were at a bridal show, and when the exact dress I had been eyeing came down the runway, Doug turned to me and said "That is such a beautiful gown!"

But I don't think I would really take FH's taste into account anyway, if I liekd something and he didn't. He doesn't really know what he likes. Say he doesn't like lace, he would love it on me. I could be in a paper sack and I know I'll be the most beautiful woman in the world to him, so I might as well wear what *I* like.

IMO, this may sound bad, but my gown is for me to like, what's underneath is for him to like Chat Icon

No...I knew he'd think I was beautiful no matter what. Although, I did fool him and say that I was wearing chantilly lace just to throw him off and when I got to the alter he touched my gown and said "Is this chantilly lace" Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

I wanted something simple a-line - I was never into the ball gown dress and neither was DH --

we had been to weddings, where he would say, oh she had a pretty dress (simple a-line) and her dress was all right (ball gown puffy)

when it came time to buy a dress the alines didn't look good on me , so I went for a ball gown that I never thought I would. Didn't even think of DH's opinion til after a bought it - and then I got a little worried. He never saw it til I walked down the aisle, and he loved it.

Re: Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

DH hates strapless dresses - he doesn't find them flattering on anyone...but I agree so I only tried a few on. But had I gotten a strapless gown he would have found me every bit as beautiful in it as he thought I was in the gown I wound up wearing. Chat Icon

I stayed away from certain styles b/c *I* didn't like them. I refused to try on any ballgown/"princess-y" dresses b/c I absolutely hate them.

I also wasn't a fan of the sweetheart neckline but that's what I wound up getting Chat Icon

He had no say, I know he doesn't like poufy, but I didn't want poufy, so it didn't matter

I knew that whatever I picked out he would love! We both really dislike poofy dresses so that was a no-brainer!

Re: Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

Yes - he kept asking me if I was going to look like a "bell," meaning a big poofy skirt. Chat Icon As it turned out, ballgowns didn't flatter me as much as a-lines did so it worked in his favor.

I didn't ask his opinion.

He really had no say anyway.

He saw it for the first time when I walked down the aisle.

As selfish as this sounds, I did not consider his opinion in my wedding dress choice.

ditto. he knew i was not a princess-y type of bride and that it had to be as comfortable as possible. i never asked him for his insight. and i hoped he would love it no matter what. and he did Chat Icon
