Re: Wedding Hall with excellent food

I attended a wedding at Flowerfield a few weeks ago and after all the build up and hype about the place I was underwhelmed. It's a personal preference, but I didn't care for the cocktail hour space. I felt like I was sitting in an hotel atrium. The "passed" items at the cocktail hour were all good, lamb chops, shrimp, mini crab cakes, etc. The "stations" not so much. What's so wonderful about a mashed potato bar?? And a pre-cooked pasta that has topping choices?? Not my taste. LOTS of wasted food. At the dinner, no one touched their rolls at my table, and they were all thrown out. I chose the filet mignon medium well. Cut of meat was very good, but it was undercooked- center was actually raw looking. OK, I probably could have sent it back, but I didn't bother. I noticed the person to my right didn't eat theirs either, and then "doggy bagged" it and left without it. I took their portion and mine home to my pet.
Cake was overly sweet and it was left by everyone at my table. They also offered apple strudel with ice cream. It wasn't high quality either. And who thought of a "cookie shooter"??? One small cookie perched on a mini glass of milk?? Really???
Considering I know this is an expensive place, either they were having an off day, or it's just not my thing.
Full disclosure- I didn't have a "big" wedding, so I'm not comparing "my" venue. Best wedding I've been to in terms of food was in Manhattan.

I second this! I come from a big Italian family and almost 7yr later everyone still RAVES about the food.

Exactly this!!!

I come from a huge Italian family too and I still hear about how amazing the food and venue were 7 years later.

I was going to mention this as well - I went to a wedding there recently and thought the food was amazing.

I also went to one at Giorgios which was very good.

Was disappointed at a recent wedding at the Riviera.

Re: Wedding Hall with excellent food

I don't really care for any wedding food. I wasn't crazy about my own venue either. But then again, I didn't put too much effort or thought into my wedding. The wedding was more my mom's idea. What I wanted was not feasible, but that's another story.

The one place I went and loved the food was Russo's.

When I worked at Panama Hatties, they did really good catering. It was consistent and I tried it often Chat Icon . I know the chefs have moved on, so I'd suggest wherever they may be now, too.

Everything else is just average and just catering.

ETA: I went to a cocktail party wedding at the Metropolitan and I liked the food a lot. The problem was there just wasn't enough of it!

Wedding Hall with excellent food

Im going to a wedding at the North Ritz this weekend. Usually wedding food is not great. With all the Raves here I'm looking forward to it.

I thought the cocktail hour at the inn at new Hyde park was great. The food at the sandcastle is also good although it's not my style of decor.

You are not alone. I was not impressed with their food at all. It was typical, underwhelming catering hall food.

I thought the Riveria had a good food. As other have said, I am usually under whelmed with wedding food.
