wedding not getting rescheduled for July.. WWYD
we have a wedding at the end of July in VT. Family is from here, some upstate, and none actually from VT. They just wanted a little bit of a destination wedding i guess. They wanted to postpone for fall but there was no availability so they decided to just keep their date.
WWYD? Would you go? Invites will probably be going out soon. I just feel like even though it's fine up there, we are all going up there from HERE. The idea of us all in a room with like 100 or more other people makes me worried. I bet weddings in VT will be happening by July, but I would imagine they are mostly locals from that area, not people from NYC and LI?

Are they sure the venue will be allowed to be open though? What about the local hotels etc?

I'm pretty sure i would go. But, it would depend on how things are by then - a whole lot is likely to change between now and then. I would plan on going and see what happens

I would go. By the end of July, things should be opening up. As long as the venue is operating and the hotels are open, then I would assume it's OK.
One plus is that you're probably driving to Vermont. So, it's not like you're on a cramped airplane for hours. You're just in the car with your family.

I don't think I would feel comfortable driving to VT and staying in a hotel by July. Also if the gathering was more than 50 people I would probably not go.
Just because business are open, doesn't mean its safe. There have been outbreaks that started at weddings.
I don't think weddings will be the same for quite awhile. July seems too early to me - who is going to feel comfortable dancing near others, eating near others, etc. If everyone is from the NY metro especially. Not worth the risk.

VT numbers are really low- they're not really offering many options to reschedule because they will definitely be open.
They are 1st cousins, but probably the least close to them out of all the cousins. They came to our wedding, though. Our concern is that a majority of the guests are from here.
Plus sides are: we will be driving up and my parents own a place 30 mins from the venue. So we don't need to stay at a hotel.

I don't know, I think July is cutting it too close to be able to say a definite yes or no in advance... I think if it was a close family member I would say I'd be there so as long as things are open up by then.

I probably would not go. I don't know that I would want to be in a room with that many people in July. We have two cousins getting married in the fall that I'm already non-committal to. BTW, they both already sent out invites. Isn't that super early?

I would wait until I got the actual invite and take it from there. See when the RSVP date is and make a decision then.

Re: wedding not getting rescheduled for July.. WWYD
I have the same situation for a cousin's wedding in mid June. Her venue hasn't allowed for them to reschedule yet. I am leaning towards going, but I am certain this was to be a 150-200 person wedding. I feel terrible for her because even if we go I bet she will still not meet her minimum guarantee.

I wouldn’t go. I am actually surprised that the venue has not canceled- my in laws live in VT and the are facing the same restrictions we are because they want to keep their numbers low. They have closed all schools through the end of the year. I doubt Vermonters want a bunch of NYers visiting for the weekend.

My nephew just got engaged before pandemic. I am not worried about him. He has been dating his fiancée forever.. He has postponed his engagement party. He looked at halls online. Their friends were supposed to be married at the end of march, but they had to postpone.

This is exactly what I’m thinking! I would feel so guilty bringing a bunch of people from the most infected area of the world basically to an area that’s been keeping things under control. If I were Vermont I wouldn’t want that wedding happening lol.
I might not go, not out of fear for myself but out of guilt if possibly passing it on to people in Vermont. I realize most people don’t think like I do though.

I wonder if the venue will cancel as it gets closer to the date.
