Re: Wedding Stress Poll
I think you have as much or as little stress as YOU create. Meanning if you want to be super involved in trying to create this fairytale...you will turn insane! If you want huge weddings with everlast person you ever met...you might go insane! If you want a huge wedding party with drama and conflict...you will go insane! If you let others dictact what you and your FH want...you will go insane!
for me, the biggest stress was getting everything done, while working and student teaching.

Re: Wedding Stress Poll
I only really felt stress the week or so before the wedding and all of it I brought on myself—I left too many little things for the last minute. My family and friends were overwhelmingly supportive and into the wedding that my planning was even more fun and exciting than I could have ever imagined.

Re: Wedding Stress Poll
I stressed more at the end but I had a great time so it was worth every moment of stress.

Re: Wedding Stress Poll
I had a different type of stress. DH and I were blessed with not worrying about finances when it came to our planning. The wedding was paid for. The TYPE of stress we had was far worse. My entire family watched my father die a slow and painful death for 9 months bedside in a hospital knowing he would never live to see us get married. In the sixth month of that hospital stay, we were engaged. Dad passed and in Jewish tradition, the happiness outweighed the sadness of mourning so the wedding went on. Dad would have wanted it that way.
But Jewish tradition does not say for your mother to break her back out of state 7 weeks before your wedding and then get medi-vaced back to NY. It was very upsetting that all of the fun stuff, like picking flowers and menu selection, we did on our own. We were certainly capable of doing that, but we were NOT the hosts. Mom was. She deserved to be able to have some say (even though I thought I'd never say that).
When push came to shove, Mom made it home 4 days before the wedding after over a month in 2 different rehab facilities(she has 2 rods and 6 screws in her back). Everything was as beautiful and delicious as if she would have done it along with us. I just felt a little lonely about it. DH was great, but picking flowers, IMO, was just a "girly thing" she and I were looking forward to doing for a long time. She was proud though.
The thought of Dad not being there was hard enough, but it was what it was. We were pretty close to MOM not being there. I wouldnt wish our scenario on my worst enemy. Aside from the worst, we had the best too!
ETA: I didnt mean so sound pitiful. This was just our situation.

Re: Wedding Stress Poll
I also lost 10 lbs and I missed a period over the stress. I'm glad it's over, but the stress somehow manages to continue with albums, video, etc....I just want everything to be final!

Re: Wedding Stress Poll
The last week was very stressful. Other than that, I didn't let it get to me too much.
But I did experience those last few days.

Re: Wedding Stress Poll
I honestly did not have any fun planning my wedding...I mean some things were fun...but the majority of things were really annoying...I really tried not to get stressed...I was pretty laid back about things, b/c I didn't want to be a bridezilla...the one thing that was stressful for me was seating and invites...ugh! My wedding itself was the best day...I was so calm and excited and had such a great time, I would do that day over and over again..but I def pass on the planning!
