DH hates when I mix foods in certain combinations - he goes CRAZY if I drink a glass of milk with pasta. no idea why?!
Ugh, I totally agree w your DH. Even more heinous is if there's any kind of tomato sauce on the pasta. When I see "kids meals" at restaurants and they serve anything with tomato sauce and milk, I wanna hurl.
I guess my problem with it is that tomato sauce is rather acidic and milk is...well, it's milk! LOL It just doesn't seem right to put the two together.
But hey, to each his own...
Question for you - do you ever eat pink sauce, like vodka sauce - that is essentially milk (or cream) and red sauce together.
DH loves pink sauces yet he gets so mad when I drink milk. I just think its funny.
He also got really mad at me once when we had no clean forks so I ate scrambled eggs with a spoon. I figured it was easier than doing dishes!

The only time I really ever eat vodka sauce is at some sort of catered function, because they seem to always serve it at those places...probably b/c it's relatively easy and inexpensive to make. But I wouldn't order it at a restaurant.
I understand your point, but it's not quite the same when you're cooking things together. And I don't think it's actually a horrible taste, to combine milk and pasta. It's just that in my mind, it seems so wrong to do it. LOL
It probably stems from the fact that I once saw a glass of milk fall into a bowl of pasta and it looked like....well, I'm not even going to say what it looked like.

Re: Weird or just a different option?
My DH is from Ireland and he puts butter on every sandwich. He also likes to use sandwich "spread" which I don't even like the smell of. He also does the whole ham and sweet corn on pizza. He thinks peanut butter is gross, anything with pumpkin is strange and can't fathom the idea of mac and cheese. I think these things are pretty common in Ireland and other European countries.
