Weird question for Moms of 3 year olds

This is going to sound really horrible but does your DC ever shut up? My DD talks constantly every minute I am with her. She wakes up talking and talks until the minute she goes to sleep. I also cannot talk to anyone else without her interrupting.

My DD is 4 and is the exact same way - does that count??

And it doesn't change, just so you know!

I try everything - telling her I'm having an "adult" conversation, asking her to say "excuse me" when she interrupts, but all I get is (as she tugs at my shirt)...

"Excuse me mommy, mommy, mommy - are you done with your adult conversation yet...mommy, excuse me, are you done yet"....kinda defeats the purpose!!!

Oh YES !!!!! I try to say to myself " Take it now, while he still wants to talk to you because once he's a teen-ager, I will probably be lucky to get a one word answer from him Chat Icon " But it is definaetly from the moment those baby blues open, until he goes to sleep constant !!!

I get the same excuse me mommy, excuse me mommy.

My parents would always joke when I went in the pool when I was little, I would come up from under the water talking. I kinda feel like I owe them an apology Chat Icon

Uhhuh... that's my Alex. But I absolutely ADORE having little conversations with her. Unless I'm in the middle of something important or doing work. Then I ask her to go play with her toys, and of course, well, that never works Chat Icon

Re: Weird question for Moms of 3 year olds

haha - yes - he never shuts up. Long run on stories of how he has work to do and what he is building and about smoke detectors or whatever his brain is dumping. It never ends from wake up to going to sleep and at times he wakes up at night and tells more stories. It took him forever to talk but now he never shuts up.....while it is cute - I need a break...it holds me up from getting stuff done at times!!!

It never, ever, ever stops.

My kids even talk in their sleep.

I don't know how their jaws don't lock from overuse. Chat Icon

Re: Weird question for Moms of 3 year olds

Nope. I tried to watch a TV show once while DS was awake and had to give up, because he couldn't stop talking. Notice how I say couldn't, instead of wouldn't. I really don't think he can stop himself, lol. He's non-stop ALL day long.
