Well, Cailen hit the daycare milestone....
He was bitten today...
It didn't even leave a mark, but I knew there was a biter in the class, but he only bit his cousin, so I was sort of ok with it. Now he bit Cailen. I like the kid, and Cailen is friends with him... I hope it doesn't happen again....
ETA - I KNOW its a phase - Thats why I referred to it as a daycare "milestone" - meaning I'm aware its par for the course.... I'm not against the kid at all, they are friends!!!! And any day now it could be Cailen who bites.
I am just sharing that it happened, thats all.....

I absolutely do not!!! I was a biter!!!!
And they seem to be on top of it in daycare, but, you can understand me not wanting it to happen again - I don't want Cailen to be afraid of his friend - there is another kid in the class that Cailen liked but he is too rough with him and now Cailen is afraid of him

Silly story about biting...
The twins were 2 1/2 (yes they were still biters at 2 1/2) This little girl they were playing with was a bit of a brat. My girls and her were playing and they each had a sippy cup. Well Jaedyn's sippy cup was one that the other little girl had only this one wasnt hers...the little girl comes up to Jaedyn, pulls her hair, smacks her, punches her, and grabs the cup. Alexis jumps up and bites her. The mother had the nerve to scream at me "how dare she bite my daughter"...when the whole time her little terror was smacking & punching my daughter and pulling her hair and taking her cup she was laughing..
I guess hiting, punching, and hair pulling are OK...but biting is a No No...

The last time my girls bit each other was August of 2006..that would have made them 7 years old..at least it was each other and not another kid.

When Lucas was bitten the first time I felt the same way...you're always sad that your child experiences something like this but I think we both agree that it's a phase and so long as the teacher and parents respond properly it's just par for the course.
Hopefully you're daycare is responding appropriately - unlike my old daycare. So long as they are monitoring the bitter's behavior, comforting the child(ren) bitten and trying to redirect behavior when they see or anticipate an incident that's all we can ask for.
And of course...as you know working with children yourself....it's not personal between the biter and Cailen. He's clearly going through something that needs to be addressed.

I am so sorry that happened to you. I know how you feel. Bridget & Alanna were bitten on the same day. I had to fight back the tears.

Oh jeez. Glad Cailen is ok....I always feel so sad that I don't get to drop/pick up Taylor because I feel like I don't get to see the in's and out's of what is going on there. My dad is very vocal when things go wrong and we did have 2 incidents that annoyed me in the past week.
Hopefully biting won't catch on with all the kids in the class.

Well Liza, apparently, he tried to bite Taylor today.
I found out after it was too late and nobody from the room was available to speak to, so I have to call tomorrow to find out more about what happened. I am just afraid of what Taylor would do if someone bites her. I don't think she will take it so lightly though. And I don't want her to get any ideas....I would hate if she started biting because I would probably be her first target

Cailen got excited while we were playing and he bit me tonight!! He jumped on me and bit my belly - but he felt sooo bad after - I screamed "OW!" because it shocked me!!! he kissed me after!!!
