Wet cough, gunky eyes, no fever
what the heck is this.
She's had a wet cough for a few days but is otherwise fine.
Yesterday when i dropped her off at daycare I saw a little girl with a pocket of puss in a blister under her eye and it looked like a black eye but red. The caregiver says the mother got her nail in the baby's eye while wiping it. I said keep AJ away and they said the baby with the icky eye was going into the next room and was only there for breakfast because of overflow. She was sitting VERY far away from the other kids, practically IN the next room with her highchair.
So yep.. you guessed it...
Today i pick up AJ from daycare and her eye has green goop. Poor thing.. still a wet cough (no change there) but now her eye is icky and under her eye is a lil puffy.
I read up and the net says it could be a cold that moved to her eyes when she rubs her snotty nose to her eyes?
Anyone have experience with this? TIA

Re: Wet cough, gunky eyes, no fever
DD just got over having puss coming out of her eyes...she had an eye infection and needed eye drops 4 times a day for 5 days. I would take her in to get checked out!

Re: Wet cough, gunky eyes, no fever
sounds like pink eye (conjunctivitis) to me, which is VERY contagious. you could even get it form her if she touched her eyes and then you touch her hand and rub your eyes. ifd this what it is, an antibiotic eye drop is the only thing that clears it up. if the whites of her eyes are pink and the morning there's gunk all over them , it's probably pink eye.

*sigh*
and to think about 4 hours ago i was contemplating not going to a WELL visit next week.
I wiped it off with a warm towel and its been clean since, so i guess we'll have to check in the morning.

Re: Wet cough, gunky eyes, no fever
TMI, but i once had that situation - a cold in my eye. Yuck. I was in college though.
So, i think it's possible that it is a cold. But if it doesn't go away, I would probably see the dr. or at least call to see if it should be checked out.
Hope she's better fast!

Re: Wet cough, gunky eyes, no fever
Well she woke up with no gunk
Just a slightly watery eye.
Last night i googled and found that if I apply a warm wet towel it can help kill any bateria. They recommended camomile (Sp) tea bags on her eye but i dont have that.
We'll see how today works out.
