we've created a monster.....
so now Samantha (who was 7 weeks old yesterday!) will sleep 4-5 hrs in her basinett and then just want to be held in order to sleep anymore! ...
and now during the day, she also "no thanks" on the swing, bouncy seat, or anything else....she's happiest in someone's arms.... ' its cute and all and I LOVE to snuggle her - but isn't this starting bad habbits?? is it too early to let her learn to cry it out? or what should we do??
thanks!

Re: we've created a monster.....
Babies are made to be held...you can't do CIO until she is at least 4/5 months old!! I think that you should give a newborn exactly what they want...
Everything will fall into place in the upcoming months, just enjoy snuggling with her! You could try building her a nest in her own bed with your worn t-shirts babies love that closed in feeling!!!

You can't spoil a newborn. I held my daughter and slept with her for months and she sleeps just fine in her crib now. 7 weeks is still so young. Enjoy it because soon she'll be a wiggle worm and want nothing to do with snuggling.

Re: we've created a monster.....
This sounds like perfectly appropriate 7 week year old behavior (sounds like you make her feel safe and secure -- good job momma!).
It is waaaay too early to consider CIO.
You aren't spoiling her, you are giving her exactly what she needs right now, and I promise it won't be forever! (Just for a few months!)

thanks....after I posted I felt bad...its not that dh and i don't want to hold her and kiss her, we just wanted to make sure its not "wrong" - hopefully no-one thought this!
how can i get her back to sleeping more in the bassinett though?? she sleeps up to 6 hrs now but then doesn't go back like she used to after a feeding??

Re: we've created a monster.....
Unfortunately sleep doesn't improve in a linear manner. It gets better, then worse, then better, then worse for years.
I started swaddling when my daughter was 5 weeks, and that seemed to help her settle. Some babies respond to white noise as well.
Have you read the "Happiest Baby on the Block" yet? It has great suggestions.

Its perfectly normal, my 7 week old only wants to be held too. I suggest buying a good sling-it makes things so much easier to have my hands free.

Re: we've created a monster.....
I totally agree, get a sling now! I held my baby constantly for 7 months...he was just a needy baby and needy babies thrive in slings!
Good Luck!!!

Re: we've created a monster.....
You CANNOT spoil a baby! She can't comfort herself, or really do anything for herself yet. That's your job, my dear

Don't bother with a baby bjorn, get a real sling sling like a Wilkinet or a Ring Sling or an Ellaroo...

I personally like pouch slings. My two favorite sites are slinglings.com and mykarmababy.com.
