DS started at 2. (2 years 3 months). It was important to me because I was having the twins, and Landon and I had a very very active social life before the twins came. I wasn't sure how things would change and I wasn't sure if we would be stuck in the house. So I signed him up for a 2 yr old program... 3 days a week, 2.5 hours each day. He loves it! It is more for socialization than anything else.

omg...what happened to starting school at 5, kindergaten??? am i out of it??
Pre-school isn't the same as school, and even I went to nursery school starting at age 3 when I was little. It's definitely not new.

He's in an in-home daycare right now so I'll probably put him in a full day preschool/daycare like Tutor Time when he's 3 for 2 days a week.

DD turned 2 in Sept 2009 and started school the following January.
I can't tell you how great it was for her. She loved it and took right to it.
I never thought I'd send her to school that young, but she was ready and that made all the difference.

I know I'm in the minority here but DD will not be starting school until she is 3 years and 9 months old. That is when the full time PreK starts in my area.
Right now she is at in home daycare and very very well taken care of. She is very bright (and I'm not just saying that because I'm her Mom ....I get told all the time by strangers), speaks well and does interact with other kids very well (playdates).
If she was at a daycare center or somewhere where I felt she wasn't getting stimulated then I would have put her in a nursery school but for us I think she can wait until she's almost 4. Anyway she will be in school for the next 18+ years

With my oldest we tried at 2 and it didn't work out so we pulled him out and sent him at 4 (pre-k). With my youngest (he's 2.5 now) I am trying to decide whether to send him at 3 or wait until 4.

we are probably going to start with 2 half days a week in November. he'll be 2.
he is at home with my MIL all day and I want him to get the socialization.

All of my friends who are SAHMs or work PT are sending their DC to preschool at 3. I'm not even sure if there are many 2 year old programs in my area.

DS has been going to preschool prep since 18m. At 18m, an adult needed to be present. Right now he is in the gentle separation program. Starting in March, it is full separation for 2-3 yr olds.
It's a transition program to prepare toddlers for preschool. The classes are 1.5 hours long.
In the fall, I plan to enroll him in preschool 3 hours a day for 5x per week. He will be 2.5yo.
