What are we doing wrong? Sleep related question
DS will be 3 months on Saturday. He will not go to sleep before 11 or 11:30pm....sleep for 3 hours wake up for 2 oz. of food, then maybe sleep another 2 to 3 hours (if we are lucky) and wakes up again to eat just a few ounces. This goes on until about 9am when he is generally up for the day.
I have tried everything. We take a bath at the same time and then start feeding him afterwards. Sometimes he will eat between 6 to 8 oz. from about 9pm to 11pm (it takes him that long to eat it). Occasionally, he will fall asleep in that period but only for a half hour and then wakes up again.
The doctor even told me he should start getting into a routine, but he refuses to get into one.
I'm so tired.....

Re: What are we doing wrong? Sleep related question
How much will he eat per bottle during the day? Will he eat more than 2 oz?
My DS was a little like this the first few months, he ate a lot throughout the day, but only 2 oz or so, and more frequently - like every 2-3 hours because he would fall asleep while eating. I would try to wiggle the nipple to keep him awake long enough to eat more. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not.
Eventually, he started to eat more per feeding, and so the number of bottles per day decreased. Generally, I think if you can get him to eat more during the day, even if there are frequent feedings, he might sleep longer at night.

During the day he ranges from 4 to 6 ozs and generally doesn't fall asleep when eating. I try to fill him up between 9 and 11pm but its still not working.

I think I would try to get him to take closer to the 6oz as much as possible during the day and see if that helps at all. Is he really hungry at 9pm and crying? Can you push that bottle off until 10 or 10:30 and see if he will eat more at one feeding?
If I remember correctly, at that age I was giving DS a bottle at around 10:30 - 11:00 and then he would wake at around 3am for another one, then again at 7am. I tried giving him another 1/2 oz or 1 oz at each bottle during the day and eventually dropped the 3 am bottle after the doctor told me at the 3 month visit that he probably didn't need it anymore.
It's tough - at that age, you feel golden if YOU can get 4 solid hours of sleep!

Re: What are we doing wrong? Sleep related question
Around 2.5-3 months is when I noticed that DC were getting really cranky around 7-8 pm. We were originally doing the same thing - bedtime was not until 10 or 11. I decided to take that crankiness as a cue and work from there. We started baths at 7 and then bottle afterwards. After a few weeks the crankiness started at 6, so we started the routine an hour earlier.
Now that they started on solids, they eat dinner around 6, then some playtime, then bath, then bottle so bedtime is now about 8.
Have you noticed a time when he starts to get really cranky? I would really look for his sleepy cues and work with his natural sleep cycle.
It shouldn't be taking him 2 hours to eat a bottle. Maybe try a level 2 nipple? When does he eat before that 9pm bottle?
