What are your 1 year olds eating?

So what's on the menu these days? Any babies not eating table foods yet? My son's just not even interested at all. We just switched him over to milk and he's doing fine with that, just worried that he's eating enough.

How much and what are your babies eating?

Thanks!!

Re: What are your 1 year olds eating?

Marron has just started being more interested in table food than in baby food. Today she finally turned away her morning oatmeal.

So far, she eats turkey, chicken, ham, cheese, yogurt, Cheerios, Goldfish, Italian bread, pizza, cantaloupe, watermelon, pears, oranges, apples, pickles, cucumbers, tomatoes, ravioli, french toast, green beans, peas, beets.

Some things she used to love as baby food but isn't crazy about as table food are carrots, peas, bananas. I'm going to keep trying though.

She used to be kind of a small eater. Lately it seems like she can't get enough food. I try to keep giving her food until she turns it away, but I'm afraid that she is going to learn to overeat. When she was eating baby food, a bottle was always part of her meal. Since she is on table food, we've been giving her the bottle between meals instead of with them. I think tomorrow I"m going back to including it with the meals.

I wasn't sure about that either starting with the table food, if I should give him the bottle with it...did you switch to milk yet? I'll try some of those foods you mentioned. Every table food I've tried he's not wanted, aside from pastina and yogurt. And only pastina mixed with his baby food. He didn't like mashed potatoes, cheese, wouldn't even try cake/frosting on his birthday and it was on his lips!

Re: What are your 1 year olds eating?

Ava eats EVERYTHING!
We are down to two bottles a day. One when she wakes up and one at bedtime. We'll cut out the morning one in a couple of weeks, so the bottles have nothign to do with eating for her.
She eats all table food and has since 8 or 9 months. She loves pasta and turkey meatballs, cinnamon bread french toast, lemon chicken, turkey meatloaf, garden burgers, rice and beans, applesauce, those Dole cups of fruit, soy cheese, low sodium turkey with pita, hummus, sweet potato "fries" (I bake them), homemade baked chicken nuggets, blueberry muffins, banana muffins, asparagus, broccoli, corn, you name it, this kid eats it. Lately, she's on a rice cake kick.

Marron is still transitioning to milk. She gets 25% formula, and 75% milk at this point. In about 3 days, she'll be on all milk. I started table food by giving her stuff she did not have as baby food like meats and cheese (I never gave her straight baby food meats). I didn't make them too small either. When I did, she would swallow them whole instead of chewing. Once she was used to having solid food she was willing to start eating those things that she had jarred (prior to this weekend, she refused to).

Good luck.

Come on over and Lauren will share some of her food with Matteo Chat Icon Lauren will eat anything we eat, cut up small. Some nights she won't eat anything... It's hit or miss, she's picky. She will not eat baby food anymore. Sometimes I will try and give it to her to round out her meal, but its hard.

Re: What are your 1 year olds eating?

Thanks girls. I'm just frustrated, I have no idea what I'm doing I feel like. He won't even eat anything himself. He won't pick anything up off of his high chair and eat it, he'll play with everything, but NOTHING goes in his mouth...oh except a wet paper towel. He seems to like those. Go figure! I can't get him to eat food but he'll eat a paper towel!

DD will be 1 on Friday... and eating time have become so hard. She is so picky with her food. Most days she will not eat anything, unless it's something she likes - like ice cream or our food. She has a wheat allergy, so the food we cna give her is limited.

There are times when I manage to get stuff in her mouth and she'll spit it out like "blahhh" what is this?! Like, bananas, egg yolk.. I don't know what to do anymore, and I really hope that her appetite will pick up soon. She cannot live on 90% formula alone!

Re: What are your 1 year olds eating?

Jackson just turned 1 and still is not really that interested in table food.
He eats graham crackers, Cheerios, and other crunchy things like pretzels or puffs. He loves yogurt.
Most things that I try to give him at dinnertime he either spits out or throws on the floor. If he spits it out I try to shove it back in, and sometimes he'll swallow it. He eats very little table food though Chat Icon

My DD is eating just about everything I put in front of her if I cut it up small. The only think I haven't tried is steak because it could be too tough.

My ped said to stay away from fish and nuts.

This is the same thing going on here. My DS doesnt eat any baby food anymore, in fact he doesnt even want to eat anything from a spoon. Of course if I give him the spoon, I suppose he might but I'm trying to get my nerve up for that. I'm not ready for what a mess that's going to be - just in time for ant season. Some nights he will turn away something he ate 2 days before.Chat Icon

DDi sin the in between stage as well. She'll be 1 in 3 weeks. She eats whole wheat pancakes, whole wheat bread with american cheese, cheddar cheese, banana, yogurt, chicken (sometimes) mac and cheese (sometimes), cantaloupe, ritz crackers, bagel, cheerios, puffs.
Nothing really all that healthy.

I tried but she doesn't like - meatballs, scrambled egg yolk, mashed potatoes, cooked carrots, cooked peas, cut up pear.

I think it is going to be an on-going process hwere hopefully more things will enter their diet. Or she might end up like DH and eat Cheerios everyday for yearsChat Icon
