Re: what are your thoughts on the kraft mac and cheese controversy?
I'm just curious for those that are big into eating organic and not eating foods with certain dyes and GMO's, do you vaccinate your children according to the AAP schedule? Yes there are lots of chemicals in foods today that can hurt our bodies, but the list of crap in vaccinations is just as long. I'm not saying the food industry doesnt need to make changes...it certainly does. And it makes it harder for people to eat healthy when healthy foods are much more expensive. But I also didnt grow a 3rd arm from eating Kraft Mac & Cheese as a child. And give it to my kids now. I believe "everything in moderation".

Yes I vaccinate my child and we mainly eat organic. My reason being is she is getting definite benefits to being vaccinated. There are no benefits to consuming pesticides and gmo's

This and if my child got sick from something I could have prevented I would never forgive myself.

We use Annie's now. DS likes it. DD won't even touch it.

Re: what are your thoughts on the kraft mac and cheese controversy?
I use this recipe. Sometimes I make a double batch because its so easy!:
Ingredients • 1 box whole wheat macaroni pasta •2 Tablespoons unsalted butter •2 Tablespoons All-Purpose Flour •1 1/2 cups milk, warmed • ½ cup canned pumpkin, pureed sweet potato, or pureed butternut squash •1 cup grated mild cheddar cheese
Instructions 1.Cook the pasta in large pot of boiling water. Drain and set aside in large bowl. 2. Begin making the cheese sauce by melting butter over medium-low heat in a saucepan. Once completely melted, add the flour little by little and mix with a whisk to prevent lumps. Cook flour and butter mixture for about 3 minutes, but do not let brown. Remove from heat and slowly add milk; mix with whisk until well combined. Return to medium-low heat and cook for about 5 minutes until the sauce is thick and coats the back of a spoon. Add pumpkin (or potato or squash). Remove from heat and add grated cheese; stir until cheese is completely melted and sauce is smooth. 3.In a large bowl, pour cheese sauce over cooked pasta. Mix sauce and pasta until well combined. The mixture may appear a bit soupy but the pasta will absorb more of the cheese sauce as it sits. Once cooled, chop slightly in food processor for small babies or keep whole for toddlers. Once cool, put in single-serve tupperware portions, and freeze. If I know I'll need one the following day, I take it out the night before and defrost in the fridge. You can heat it up in a saucepan or the microwave. It is so easy!!

what are your thoughts on the kraft mac and cheese controversy?
I was at Target yesterday and noticed they now have a Kraft Mac n Cheese ORGANIC variety which uses annatto for coloring, just like Annies. I actually stopped using Kraft powdered but continued to use Kraft deluxe or Velveta deluxe which also uses annatto for coloring. (the deluxe version is the "liquid" cheese, not the powder)
However having said that Target had annies on sale and I tried the shells with white cheddar and it was pretty good as was the spiral white cheddar deluxe version . I think the one with the bunnies was the one we hated. They have several flavors so for those of you that have tried and didn't like annies maybe try the different flavors or check out the new Kraft Organic. I personally felt like I should "reward" annies because they have always been organic and it's like Kraft knowingly putting in carcinogenic food dyes in a product for no reason other than to make it look more appetizing. It just doesn't sit well with me that they could have been using annatto all along. So for me I am going to stick with annies and give them my hard earned dollars.
