What are your thoughts on this?... milk allergy related
OK, so this past weekend, my parents took my DC so that DH and I could have our first child free weekend in about 2 years!
It was WONDERFUL! Everyone had a great time!
DD has a milk allergy (or at least that is what we think it is). So she's been on soy formula since 6 months when I stopped pumping and BFing.
My mom mentioned that on Saturday, she made pancakes for DS and she gave some to DD. I asked her if she made the pancakes with milk. At that point, my mom got all nervous and felt horrible because they did have milk in them. I spoke with her about an hour after DD ate them and just told her to be on the lookout for any adverse reactions. (DD reaction to the milk formula at 6 months was horrible vomiting).
Anyway, DD did not have any reactions at all to the milk pancakes.
SO, what do you think about that? She didn't eat TOO many of them. But they did have milk in them.
Do you think she may be over her milk allergy? Could it be there was no reaction because the pancakes were cooker or because she really didn't eat that much?
I take her to the ped on Wednesday to get her 2nd flu shot and I will ask then, but thought I would run it by everyone here first!

I don't know how old your DD is, but she may have outgrown the allergy. It is also possible that your DD tolerated the milk because it was a small amount and since it was also cooked, the proteins may have been altered and less allergenic.
Have you taken your DD to an allergist? A simple skin test will probably see if she is truly still allergic.

She's 10.5 months. I'm going to ask the ped on Wednesday.
We never took her to an allergist. The vomiting that she had when she took 2 bottles of milk based formula, then had no issues when given soy formula was enough for my ped to come to the milk allergy conclusion.
We are going to have her tested when she has her 1 year bloodwork done, so that's not too far away.
Thanks for your thoughts!

i agree with her.. some people vomit if they drink the milk whole or its uncooked...but once its cooked they can eat it...

i can tell you from the soy standpoint that the allergist told us that Em couldn't have anything labeled clearly as SOY....but she could have 'soybean oil' or 'soy lechitin' because with those two, they are processed and cooked off, so there's likely very little soy 'protein' in them...
it's possible that the milk 'cooked off' when your mom made the pancakes! definitely ask the doc - but it is possible that he's outgrown it!!!
