What booster seat is your 5-6 years old in?
It's time to say good bye to my son's car seat and get him a booster seat. I just don;t know which one... I was pocking around on the consumersearch.com but also wanted to ask the moms here. I am also a little confused as to why some of them are backless and cost $20-40 and some look pretty much the same a regular car seat and cost almost as much. Might as well leave the regular car seat in...
Thank you!!

Re: What booster seat is your 5-6 years old in?
We went with the Graco Turbo Elite Highback for DD who turned 5 in September. If you want a 5 point harness you can go with the Graco Nautilus 3 in 1 or the Britax Frontier. The 5 point harness car seats are the more expensive ones. Nautilus costs around $180 and the Britax $280....the Graco Turbo Highback was about $80

Re: What booster seat is your 5-6 years old in?
I have a Graco highback booster that Kevin has been in since he was 4. At that time he outgrew his 5 point harness seat we had and was big enough to fit in a booster correctly. At that time i had researched and found the backless one got better safety reviews but since he tends to nap on long car rides we thought the high back would be more comfy and the highback got fine safety reviews. He still fits in it and he is on the taller side although not sure how much longer he'll last with the highback (he is almost 6 now). I can take the back off when he is too tall and it works as just the regular seat.

DS is 6.5 and is still in the Graco highback booster. HE has no complaints and is fine.
HE has a booster with no back in DH's car (that he's really never in) and I think he prefers the high back still.

Re: What booster seat is your 5-6 years old in?
My son, who will be five in March but is larger than many six year olds, is still in a five point harness. We have the Britax Frontier in one vehicle and the Graco Nautilus in the other. I wanted to keep him in a five point harness as long as possible. I can keep him harnessed in the Graco until 65lbs and the Britax until 85lbs, then the seats convert to boosters until 100lbs for the Graco and 120lbs for the Britax.

Re: What booster seat is your 5-6 years old in?
DD is 4.5. when she outgrew her old convertible I upgraded to the graco nautilius because I wanted her to remain in a 5 pt harness for as long as possible. It goes up to 65 lbs 5 pt harnessed and then converts to a backed and backless booster so its the last seatr she will need. I love the nautilus.

Same....I just don't feel like she is ready for "just" a seatbelt. I liked all of the reviews that I read for it AND the fact that we can break it down to a booster when she gets older.
The BRITAX was HUGE and so expensive. I loved the Marathon and was ready to go for this...but the BBB saleperson and I had a lengthy discussion and even told me flat out that the Graco was a better choice.
