What can I do to avoid the inevitable yeast infection??
So I'm now on my THIRD course of antibiotics this pregnancy, this time for a bacterial infection. The last time I took this antibiotic (Keflex) I got a RAGING yeast infection. The worst I've ever had--and I only ever get them after taking antibiotics.
Normally I would take acidophilus to prevent the yeast infection, but I'm not sure it's safe to take and my OB is closed until Monday.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm not typically opposed to sucking it up and using the Monistat, but with my back injury, using it becomes...um...difficult.
Thanks!

eating yogurt will do the same deal as taking the acidopholos - just eat - 1-2 a day and you should be fine.

yup, that's what i would do. you might get that "activia" yogurt, which may have more probiotics in it (although i'm not sure of that...).

ooh, yogurt! I didn't even think of that!! Think 1-2 a day is all I'd have to eat?
I'm not a huge yogurt fan, but I'll eat 'em for breakfast, lunch and dinner to avoid that horrid itching!!

I have taken acidophilus -- I don't see why it wouldn't be safe -- it is basically just live bacterial cultures just like those in yogurt.

I asked my RE and acidophilis is fine to take. I take one with every single dose of antibiotics and I take two the very frist dose, kind of like a loading dose.
