i've never been in a mini cooper but it looks like i would be too cramped, and i am not a huge fan of how they look - LOVE jettas though!!

I have a Mini and I LOVE it. I've had it about a year and a half. FM me with any questions. 42 MPG highway, 36 around town (I have a manual transmission), I can fit everything in it. I don't have any complaints!
One tip, if you do get it, get the rain sensing wipers. I did not get them and I really regret it because the intermittent only has one setting. I don't consider this a complaint because I chose not to get the option, but I really regret that.

I guess If I had to pick one I'd go with the Mini.
I don't know many people happy with there VW. My sister had the Jetta back when they were cool in like 98 and it was a mess always breaking. My cousin also had a Jetta like a 2000 and was always dumping $$ into it. As well as a friend of mine. She HATED her Jetta a 04 but did trade up to the Golf and loves it.

I voted Mini. My sister had a VW and had nothing but trouble with it. Every repair was like $600. She couldn't wait to get rid of it.

I think it depends on your needs.
We just got a Jetta and are very happy with it.
The problems people had with older models have been remedied and now their record for maintenance is very good, we did a lot of research before buying it.

No problems with his, it is BRAND new. He got the Mini Clubman. No repairs yet, but my DH is a mechanic and warned him that it could get expensive down the line.
