What color for kitchen cabinets

The dark cherry or the antiquey cream, not white, but cream...Which do you like better and why...I've always liked the cream, but I feel like it'll show all dirt and with kids it's just not a smart move...DH likes the cherry

We will be getting our new kitchen cabinets in a cream color- We have a fairly small kitchen and the lighter color will make it look bigger. I also LOVE cherry cabinets- nothing against them at all :) When we were cabinet shopping, it seemed most of the cabinet finishes could be cleaned easily and a Magic Eraser can do wonders on fingerprints! I say go with what you like better :)

we did a dark color but have a very large kitchen with a lot of natural light. What does your kitchen look like? dark cabinets would make a small or not well lit kitchen look smaller and darker. In the end you should just go with what's going to make you happy though. IMO

I prefer the cream color. Mostly personal pref.

I have cream color cabinets and I have no issues with dirt. Although they do have a glaze on them so for all I know they could be filthy.

We have cream colored for most of my kitchen cabinets and when they get dirty i can always wipe it off. I then have cherry ones for my island and I feel like that shows dirt more - like i always see the shine from something that spilled.

i personally love the look of cream cabinets.

my neighbor has white cabinets and she said if she had it to do over again she'd pick anything else because they need to be wiped down constantly or they look filthy.

Go with what you like but also keep in mind the style of the rest of your house (especially if it's open floor plan). I like the white or cream cabinets but they wouldn't go with the rest of my house, so we have the cherry (maple in a cherry color).

Our house is a splanch, a formal dining room, formal living room and not really open kitchen...for those that need a point of reference...

I think if the kitchen is on the smaller side, a dark cabinet color might make it feel too closed in...

I have both in my kitchen. I love them both and feel like the cream cabinets disguise messes better than my cherry cabinets.

I went from a white kitchen to a cherry(well more like mahogany) kitchen and couldn't be more pleased. The white was an absolute PITA with kids and fingerprints! I happen to love how warm and rich cherry is throughout a home. Here are a few pics to give you an idea. We just finished last week so I'm thrilled of course. You can see down my hall into my diningroom and my steps, everything is the same stain color. I also wasn't sure how the antique white would go with all my white molding. I have white doors, box molding and crown molding in all of my rooms and that was a consideration for me. I think either way you go, it will be beautiful

We have cherry, and I dont love them. I had stark white in my old house and loved them even though my cabinets now are much higher quality. Cherry is beautiful but the lighter is more my preference.

My SIL just did the cream and its gorgeous.
Another family member has some cream in their kitchen and 3 young kids and there are no issues with dirt or finger prints.

If your going to stay a long time I would go with cream. they won't get dated as quick as the cherry ones. that's a huge trend right now.

Honestly I would go with Cherry, the look is timeless. I feel like the cream color will look dated at some point.

we were going to go lihgt but our kitchen decoratorer recomended going darker with kids


i love the look of cherry cabinets- but be careful on the strength ofcherry they use - the more detailed cabinet needs a softer wood that can get digned easier

both colors are extremely popular right now...

I actually prefer a mahogany color- it's not as "red" as the traditional "cherry" color.. it has more brown.

I think this is a more classic transitional look and doesn't show wear-and-tear as easily as the cream cabinetry does.

I am not sure what type of cabinets you are getting, but typically white cabinets (or any version of) are laminated w/ thermafoil- so make sure you check for that- you don't want that...

That is indeed yours The granite is Ouro Brazil. We went with maple. The color matches the rest of the wood in our house to a T and that's all stained mahogany. Dina-I walk in my kitchen everyday and just love it We are so happy with the way it turned out!
