We generally go with Zarbees. This last time DS had a cough for weeks. We finally brought him to the doctor and she told us he had asthma (probably brought on by the crazy amount of pollen this fall - he doesn't generally have it from running around or anything like that.) At any rate, she had us put him on a nebulizer for a while and he's fine now. It was killing us - between him waking up from coughing a million times a night and a newborn - we were zombies! But we had no idea it was anything other than a little post nasal drip or something.

I asked the ped this same questions regarding our 3.5 year old and was told Benadryl.
It worked for the most part. I did pick up the little tummies honey lollopops but have not used them yet.
