What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
My mother really wanted us all over to her house for dinner on Mother's day. We went back and forth last week on deciding what to do. In the end, we decided to play it safe and we all stayed home.
But, I think people began to loosen their definitions of social distancing for Mother's Day. My mom said that the neighbors on either side of her both had their families over.
What did everyone else do?

Re: What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
My mom lives in another state, so I spent the day with my kids. We did a photoshoot at a park since I never have pics of myself with my kids. Then we rode bikes and went to the park in my neighborhood the rest of the day. Happy it was sunny!

Re: What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
Saw my inlaws and my family separate times of the day. We rode bikes over to my sister in laws and my inlaws came too and we just hung out on the driveway for an hour. WE had my family over later and also had chairs on the driveway and each had our own drinks and talked about 6 ft apart. No one came into our homes or we didn't go inside my inlaws. Just sat outside and talked. It was nice.

What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
DH cooked us a big brunch, then we took the kids to the park to ride their bikes & scooters, got ice cream from Mr. Softee. Came home and my parents & in laws came over, like a PP we all just hung in the driveway/front lawn, they brought their own chairs. They left around 5, and then my DH BBQ'd for dinner.

Re: What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
i worked.
saw my kid at work. it's the only time i get to see him, lately.
i then went home and fought with SO. he kept saying how he's wracking his mind to "do something" for mother's day, but he spent the time working on a project in the back yard. so i spent the time knitting and reading.

Unfortunately, I'm about 1/2 hour from my parents and my sister is another 50 minutes from them (in Westchester). It just doesn't seem worth it to make the drive for just sitting outside for an hour. Plus, at some point, someone is going to need to use the bathroom and want to go inside the house.

What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
I stayed home with my husband and daughter. We FaceTimed with my family and did a zoom meeting with my husband’s family. My dh cooked dinner and got cupcakes from my favorite gluten free bakery. It was a relaxing day.

Yeah it seems people have different ideas of social distancing. People with or without masks taking selfies ball over my fb. Oh but we were 6 ft apart. Umm for the 100 pics you took you weren’t. SMH
We stayed home and I got to relax in the sun and hubby made dinner.

I think people are just done at this point. I'm so sick of seeing these kinds of posts. And I'm not saying from you, just in general, and the mask and social distancing police are getting ridiculous. My thought is, "you do you" and "they will do them". Nothing you do or say is going to change what other people do. So I wouldn't even let it bother you in the slightest at this point.

Re: What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
the large downtown los angeles flower market opened this past weekend. watching the news, i was surprised at how many people were out shopping and how close to one another they were.
i would not be surprised if we see a peak in cases in about 2 weeks.

Re: What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
We just called our mothers & sent flowers. Like someone said above, my family is about an hour away, and i didn't want to go all the way down there to stand on the lawn. And I don't think they anted me to either.
my in-laws are a few minutes away, but I don't think they are into the social distance visit either. It's just not fun to be standing across the lawn wearing a mask.
We will go by this week to droop something off though.
I did see on Facebook one of my friends had her mom over & they spread out on the back yard & another friend's sister drove 4 or 5 hours from upstate to see their mom ( also wearing a mask & staying back, at leats in the video I saw) , so I do kind of feel bad that I didn't make more of an effort, but it just seems too strange to see my mom for the first time since January & not hug her.

Oh I get it and I bit my tongue and didn’t comment to any post. Just hoping that by everyone doing this, it won’t affect our hospitalizations for us and in turn to we can’t go up in the criteria numbers.

We have friends in Florida who went to dinner at a restaurant last week. The restaurants are following the rules- half capacity, tables apart, staff in masks. They posted how they were so excited to be eating out again and people are commenting- but are you wearing masks? Um it's a fuking restaurant- can you eat and drink in a mask? How about mind your own business?

Georgia hasn't since opening over 2 weeks ago.
Maybe they are following the rules while out and about

It's almost like people are just *wanting* the states that re-open to have a ton of new cases just so they can have something else to ***** about. It's getting tiring.

But adhering to regulations and wearing a mask is more than just personal business - it affects others. Obviously a restaurant is a different story but I am shocked at the lack of consideration people have for others and the refusal to wear a mask. People need to get over their damn selves. Wearing a mask is not perfect but it does help prevent transmission of droplets via coughing or talking - if an asymptomatic person wears a mask to a store they are going to spread less droplets. Idk why people can't be more empathetic to the healthcare workers who are busting their asses, the immunocompromised, etc. We are in the middle of a pandemic. If you need to wear a mask to go to Costco, do it.

Stores don't let you in without a mask, so it's really a moot point. Everyone I've seen complain (at least on my SM account), are complaining about people not wearing a mask while they are riding a bike, or hiking, or standing on an empty beach. A mask is to be worn when you can't social distance. People are having a really hard time grasping that.

Re: What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
I went with my sister to drop off food for family, visited my aunt and uncle since they were nearby. We went inside the house.
Then hung out at home and we did a virtual zoom party for everyone. Ordered Mexican food.

Re: What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
we went to my parents! Yep I broke the rules.
My dad had it and we assume my mom did too (they wouldn't test them at the time they had it back in march but my dad had all the symptoms and they basically told him he had it)
They both went and got tested and both were negative for covid 19 (which means they recovered) and they both got tested for antibodies and they both have the antibodies.
So with all that I made the decision it was safe to see them because really when would it be safe?

Exactly! If I'm out taking a walk by myself I'm not wearing a mask. Even Cuomo himself said- masks are mandatory in situations where you CANNOT social distance.
I have never seen anyone in a store without one since the mandate came out. They won't even let you in without a covering.
So where are all these people not wearing masks in stores??? If so, the store needs to crack down

Exactly and Nell was talking about people eating at a restaurant. It’s impossible to eat with a mask on, common sense. But I guess that’s lost on so many people now a days. If people don’t like that and it scares them to go to a restaurant, they can stay home. Don’t judge others for wanting to move on a little.
