Yeah it seems people have different ideas of social distancing. People with or without masks taking selfies ball over my fb. Oh but we were 6 ft apart. Umm for the 100 pics you took you weren’t. SMH
We stayed home and I got to relax in the sun and hubby made dinner.
I think people are just done at this point. I'm so sick of seeing these kinds of posts. And I'm not saying from you, just in general, and the mask and social distancing police are getting ridiculous. My thought is, "you do you" and "they will do them". Nothing you do or say is going to change what other people do. So I wouldn't even let it bother you in the slightest at this point.
We have friends in Florida who went to dinner at a restaurant last week. The restaurants are following the rules- half capacity, tables apart, staff in masks. They posted how they were so excited to be eating out again and people are commenting- but are you wearing masks? Um it's a fuking restaurant- can you eat and drink in a mask? How about mind your own business?
But adhering to regulations and wearing a mask is more than just personal business - it affects others. Obviously a restaurant is a different story but I am shocked at the lack of consideration people have for others and the refusal to wear a mask. People need to get over their damn selves. Wearing a mask is not perfect but it does help prevent transmission of droplets via coughing or talking - if an asymptomatic person wears a mask to a store they are going to spread less droplets. Idk why people can't be more empathetic to the healthcare workers who are busting their asses, the immunocompromised, etc. We are in the middle of a pandemic. If you need to wear a mask to go to Costco, do it.
Stores don't let you in without a mask, so it's really a moot point. Everyone I've seen complain (at least on my SM account), are complaining about people not wearing a mask while they are riding a bike, or hiking, or standing on an empty beach. A mask is to be worn when you can't social distance. People are having a really hard time grasping that.
Exactly! If I'm out taking a walk by myself I'm not wearing a mask. Even Cuomo himself said- masks are mandatory in situations where you CANNOT social distance.
I have never seen anyone in a store without one since the mandate came out. They won't even let you in without a covering.
So where are all these people not wearing masks in stores??? If so, the store needs to crack down
there are stores allowing it. i wear one but I do not plan on wearing one forever!!
if thats the plan that we have to wear these for months and months to come I am going to be really upset!
I get for the next few months but come September I will not be expecting my kids to have to wear masks in school (mainly because they will not keep them on that long and i think most elementary schools wouldn't) or really have to social distance

Re: What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
My mom is deceased, and DH's mom lives across the country...we don't have children, so we did nothing, same as ever other Sunday for the last two months lol.
I am getting tired of the mask police. To clarify, I do certainly wear a mask when required, and I think doing so is important.
I am more getting sick of people who suddenly claim to care about others because it's trendy to do so and because it's a political statement to do so. I would love to know how many members of the mask police engage in other dangerous behaviors, such as texting and driving or drinking and driving. Caring about the healthy and safety of others is a personality trait, not a fad that you engage in for a short period of time to make a statement.

I wear one as well. I hate it more than anything and have come close to a full on panic attack from lack of air, so I limit going out but I reached a point this weekend that I just needed to go out like a human again so I did wear one and manage for short periods of time. I saw something somewhere that this mandate is not an actual law, and that a store itself can deny you entry without one because it is their right to do so, (like they can deny you service for no shirt, no shoes, lol) but it never passed as a "law". So I guess if a store doesn't want to enforce it they don't have to...

Re: What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
My daughter took strips of paper from magazines, rolled them, and glued them. Then she strung the beads onto a lanyard to make me a necklace. My husband made me origami Rose's. My son traced his hands, made accordion folds in paper and wrote I love you this much on it. I loved all of my gifts. My husband also got me flowers and made french toast for breakfast. I made chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. I went for a walk and got to take a nap. We zoomed with our families. Over all it was a really lovely day.

Exactly and Nell was talking about people eating at a restaurant. It’s impossible to eat with a mask on, common sense. But I guess that’s lost on so many people now a days. If people don’t like that and it scares them to go to a restaurant, they can stay home. Don’t judge others for wanting to move on a little.
Yup! Everyone has a choice when stuff reopens. Stay home, or don't. (Sorry OP, your post got derailed quickly, )

This is ridiculous. A highly contagious virus is not You do you and I'll do me. Peoples choices effect the society as a whole. Not everyone has the luxury of staying home if they are afraid -many essential workers have no choice. As stores open up, retail workers have no choice. I see so many people complaining and outright refusing to wear a mask and keep their distance. When offices reopen and people go back to work, the least people can do is wear a mask on public transportation. Think of the greater good.

Obviously you missed the point. If they are required to wear a mask and gloves, then yes. And like I said, stores are requiring masks to enter (at least around here). The point was, if you are afraid for stuff to reopen, stay home. Others will choose to go out. They will choose to go to restaurants, and they will choose to travel. They don't need to be shamed for going to a restaurant and not wearing a mask while eating. That's absurd.

I got to order my own food, do laundry and yard work.....everything DH was supposed to help with but instead he got to hang out with DD
Seriously?? That is so annoying! Sorry. Remember that on Father's day!
We saw family. We went to my father in laws, my parents and then to my mother in laws. We stayed at each house for about an hour. We went in the backyards at 2 of the 3, mainly because that is where the sun was and it was windy and cold without it. We socially distanced. Everyone stayed apart for the most part except for my 88 year old grandmother who thinks this whole situation is BS and if she wants to hug her great grandchildren she is going to. That's a quote. My DH was so pissed but, quite frankly, she is the type that will get it and survive it. She has a lot of complaining and being a grump left in her. SHe's like the old man in Up. LOL
Then we picked up dinner and a had nice relaxing night of cocktails and zooming with my cousin so she could introduce her brand new baby. It was a good day.

I don't disagree with you. I just worry that people are going to get sloppy and stupid and we are going to end up back in this situation where taxing our hospitals becomes a huge issue again. That is what I am most fearful of; that people will not be able to get the medical care they need...Covid patients or any patient that needs medical care. Its scary to think about.

That is exactly my FIL. And guess what- he did get it- from his nursing home. And he barely was sick. Kept complaining about this 'damn cold' every time DH spoke to him on the phone. We joke that he will outlive everyone- including US! He has so many health issues, he has spoken about himself like he is dead and buried for years, and yet- still kicking. And now, survives Covid, with barely a blip, at 87 years old. It's crazy!

I went to a bunch of stores this weekend and everyone had masks. Target, stop n shop, UPS store, bagel shop, liquor store. Dh goes to multiple stores a week and has since the mask thing started and said he never sees anyone without one. Personally as much as I despise wearing it I'd be mortified not to...i feel like people would be looking at me in disgust. I gueas some people are ballsy and don't give a crap what others think or say but to me that would be mortifying. I didn't go to a store in almost a month because i was waiting weeks for a mask i could actually feel half way comfortable wearing to arrive. Fighting someone at the door? That's crazy

A security guard was shot and killed for trying to enforce the mask policy at his store. McDonald's employees were shot. A park ranger was shoved into a lake. Store employees have been spit on, coughed on, nose wiped on their shirt, yelled at, harassed, etc.

What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
We have seen my mom the entire time. So we went to her place then went out east to the farms then picked up dinner on the way home.

If so, the store needs to crack down
The ones I have heard say they have asthma and can’t wear one. I don’t want to start but how long are you shopping? One actually fights the people at the door until they let him in.
Yep he doesn’t care as he is one if those people fighting this all the way. Taking away his freedoms, etc.

A security guard was shot and killed for trying to enforce the mask policy at his store. McDonald's employees were shot. A park ranger was shoved into a lake. Store employees have been spit on, coughed on, nose wiped on their shirt, yelled at, harassed, etc.
The shooting was in Flint Michigan. I know that area well since I grew up in Michigan and my family still lives there. That is a crime ridden area to begin with, so it's no surprise that a thug punk didn't want to follow the rules and shot someone.

Re: What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
I HATE wearing the mask. I don't care at all how I look, but I just find it very difficult to breathe in and also, I can't wear my glasses when I have the mask on. And also, I definitely find myself touching my face MUCH more when I am wearing it in order to adjust it.
BUT I do think stores have the right to require it if they want to - they can do whatever they want, and if I don't like it, then I don't have to shop there. I wear it when I go into stores, even if I am the only one there and there is nobody near me. I will say that a LOT of store employees I see are wearing the mask underneath their nose though.
One thing I won't do is wear a mask walking around my neighborhood or running. I find it silly. I live in the suburbs with wide streets. Nobody needs to be that close to me. If they are then they should move over. Most of the time it is me that moves over.

I touch my face like crazy with the damn mask on. Constantly adjusting it. And I itch like crazy in it. And forget my daughter. I took her to Target and all she did was touch the damn thing and I caught her with it pulled down and touching her nose! It's hard to get used to. Especially for kids.

Yes, the security guard shooting happened in Flint. But there's no shortage of asssholes all over the country.

Re: What Did Everyone Do for Mother's Day?
We socially distanced with my Dad and step mom on Sat in their yard. In the snow.
Sunday we had breakfast with my mom, socially distanced in a parking lot.
Honestly the whole thing was pretty depressing. It was a rough day for me.
