What did you write on labels for school/daycare items?

I am ordering labels and bag tags from mabels labels. Did you write full name, just first name or just first initial and last name?

I want to be able to identify what belongs to him but DH was worried about putting his full name on the tag for his backpack since he'll be taking the bus The school walks him to and from the bus and we get him on and off the bus at home so everyone around him will already know his name, IMO.

I only put last name and my phone number

In this case, with the bus and DH's worry, I would do first initial last name. This way a stranger wouldn't be able to call him by name. He/She would have to guess.

For DS, I did first and last name. There was another Thomas in his class, but I think I would have done both anyway. He was only going to daycare though and not taking a bus.

Could you label the inside of the backpack instead of hanging on the outside? Like maybe inside the pouch?

FYI: NYS regulations require first and last name on all cups and bottles
