what do i say @ interview...

Hi Ladies,

I know I should just be happy that I have a job in this economy; but I’m starting to look for a new position (same level); I have two interviews next week. I KNOW they’re going to ask why am I leaving my current job.

I’m just not sure what to say…

The REAL reasons I’m trying to leave is that I feel over worked; underpaid for the amount of work i do; and I hardly get any time off (again overworked). I’ve been with my company for 3 years…will be 4 years in January and I only get 10 days vacation. Won’t reach 15 days until after 5 years so still another full year to go and the days don't carry over; so it's not even like i can save days to try to build more time off. EVERYONE i know that works at other companies & have been on their jobs for about the same time as me has 4+ weeks. Last year; i didn't take 1 day off until June when i went away because i needed to save up my time.

I want a job w/better benefits & a better work/life balance (checking e-mails at 9pm from home)

Any suggestions as to what to say? Not really looking for growth; cause I’m happy at my level; just a change of companies & more benefits/time off.

Thanks!

i would remain positive and focus your answer on desire for career development, to learn new things. somehow think of a way to say you're ready for a change, for new challenges.

eta just read last part of your paragraph - you could add something about having more control over your time vs. life/work balance
