Re: What do u believe? POLL Autism
sorry to crash - but how can it? it doesn't have any thimerisol/mercury, which is what some people believe causes autism. so how could MMR cause autism?

Re: What do u believe? POLL Autism
I don't think one particular shot causes autism.
The combination of multiple shots given at the same time to a young child who may be more susceptible to developing austism spectrum disorders may lead to autism.
These days the fact that a child is given 36 shots before they are 3, while we were given less than 10, do suggest that immunization may cause the problem.
Also, the rate of autism in Japan is significant lower than in the US per 1000 births. One reason is because Japan don't vaccinate their child until after 5. I think that speaks volume about whether we should be immunizing our child so early.
Also, I heard 4/5 doctors actually don't vaccinate their child. Hm....
I've done alot of research about this and just had to shed some light on this topic.

Re: What do u believe? POLL Autism
I think if the child has some sort of genetic predisposition then the MMR can bring autism out in that child.

so, it could be the MMR vaccine, or another vaccine, not thimerisol? ugh this is so confusing... how do you know what it right?

This statement is not true...it is all over the media at times that the MMR shot is believed to be the culprit by some parents of children with autism...but the media itself has not stated that the MMR causes autism.
Sorry, I just felt it was important to clarify!!
And no, I do NOT believe the MMR causes autism...not at all. I think there is a genetic predisposition that may be triggered by environmental effects or possibly high fever, not sure. I sure wish they would find out and spare a lot of parents agony!

I've done alot of research about this and just had to shed some light on this topic.
I don't dispute the questioning of giving so many vacs at such a young age, however, I think it's reaching a bit to say that 80% of doctors don't vaccinate their children. You "heard" this from where?
Also to those questioning the MMR/thimerisol/autism link- it was never thimerisol that was the supposed link. The "link" was bowel issues thought to be caused by the measles portion of the MMR that supposedly was also linked to autism. This was from a British study that has since been DISPROVEN.
I believe autism is genetic, brought about by an environmental toxin. Whether that be vacs, preservatives, pollution, pesticides.... I don't know.
Another reason to go organic if you ask me.....

ITA!
And I don't buy the 4/5 doctors don't vaccinate their kids....all my doctors have always said that vaccines were crucial and I know they've vaccinated their own!

It's not thimerisol. That was taken out of vaccines a while back and the rates of diagnosis are climbing.
It COULD be a reaction triggered by vaccines bringing out the condition. Like the case of the young girl just in the news....spiking a high fever from her vaccine they believe brought out her autism.
HOWEVER...it is important to realize something...
Symptoms of autism in children sometimes appear around 18 months or this is the age of regression (a child stops talking, stops eye contact etc). This happens to be around the time of the MMR. I think that is what causes paretns to want to blame it.....but what they later realize is that in many cases the signs of autism were there way before the MMR...
It's sad and I would want someone or something to blame too. As a mom to a child with sensory problems and some red flags I think about it every single day of my life. And these problems with Johnny were apparent at 10 months of age...he was JUST vaccinated for the MMR last week and we broke it up...so far so good, and no deterioration. He seems to improve little by little but I still lose sleep over it all...

Cause...absolutely not. Since then everyone that had the MMR would be autistic.
Do i believe that it could set something off, for those that have a genetic component or predisposition.....YES i do. I do believe that is just possibly ONE way to set off the predisposition. I do believe there are a few environmental facts that can do this as well

Re: What do u believe? POLL Autism
I posted this link in another thread but thought I'll share here too. I've read this research paper from Robert F. Kennedy Jr.:
Deadly Immunity
I won't be surprised there's some truth to it. Ie. the pharmaceutical and medical community is covering up information. Imagine the panic and the money in lawsuit costs if all the parents with autistic kids come out and demand monetary compensation.
Not to mention the loss in revenue from these vaccines.
I know this is a hot topic right now so can only say that it's up to you to believe what you want. I feel that until the truth is revealed that we should be cautious of what we allow into our child's body.

You mean today or recently? Or the on-going same thing about that infamous research years ago?
I am personally unsure what causes it. Whether it's the MMR, lead in toys, genetics, etc... or a combination of all of the above and others.

But we do know that the diseases vaccinated against in the MMR are diseases that can be deadly, correct? That is KNOWN, those truths have been revealed, so what about that side of it?
