What do you dress your kids in for nursery school/daycare?

I know that they will be doing alot of hands on projects and they said to send him in comfy clothes.

Should I basically send him in running pants and long sleeved shirts? I don't want them to ruin any of his cute jeans....but then again, I don't want him to look like a total slob all the time Chat Icon -- AHHH - the problems we have! Chat Icon

I dress him like I do at home, so that means jeans some days or running pants other days.
Believe it or not, when he was Jacks age he never got his pants dirty from school projects but his shirts did sometimes. Everything did come out though and nothing was ruined.

Also, I am not sure if they went over this with you at orientation or if the director told you but here are somethings I was told:
1. label ALL his jackets inside...kids won't always remember their jacket and then you end up with someone else's jacket (had this happen but the other kid was still their)
2. label his lunch box on the outside incase their is one than more of that lunch box
3. when you have to give an extra pair of clothes to them, include socks because those get wet first.

You gotta get him a seperate wardrobe!!!Chat Icon Go to Century 21!!! You can get him a school wardrbobe for a great price and he will still look good!

ETA: Like the other's mentioned, most of whatever they get on them comes out in the wash.

I dress her in all the cute clothes otherwise what's the point of buying them. She goes 5 half days a week though so if I didn't put her in them they'd never get worn.
I will say most things they use come out with spray and wash. I've only had maybe 2-3 outfits ruined in the past 2 years.

I'm going for cute/casual/comfy. We went "school clothes" shopping - it was a lot of leggings/tunics/knits (none of which help you Chat Icon)

She's only been twice so far, and was dressed "up" for her first day.

The boys in her class have been in T's and jeans/track pants.

The only thing I would reccomend is to try to put him in elastic waist pants once he starts showing potty interestChat Icon

I don't forsee that happening until he turns three (don't think I could handle a newborn and a toddler who is pottytraining Chat Icon )

I put Lucas in cotton pants and t-shirts (long sleeve in the winter). Sometimes running pants and once in a while jeans.

Things like this:

They do get dirty although I have yet to trash anything...it all washes out but I stick with darker colors. The sleep in these clothes too so I always feel like they have to be comfy but it's my definition not his...you know?

I think it depends on your kid. DD is really neat, she rarely comes home with paint on her clothes. One of her friends used to wear a plastic smock to do the same projects and would have paint literally head to toe every day. Her mom said she was like that at home too.

Except for the special days (first day of school, picture day, class parties) I send them in inexpensive causal clothes that I don't care if they get ruined (usually from Children's Place or Target) and in shoes that I don't mind getting messy. My 2 always end up with playdoh stuck in the treads of the shoes they wear to school.

Re: What do you dress your kids in for nursery school/daycare?

Everything they use at DS's daycare seems to come out fine in the wash.

I mostly dress him in what would be considered "sporty" clothes.

Long sleeved Ts and sweat pants. Sometimes jeans.

He's in daycare 5 days for 8 hours. I dress him comfy.

Always - sweatpants (he is starting not to like the stiff feel of jeans except for a soft pair of Deisel jeans he has had over a year!!!) and a t-shirt. in the cold weather he wears a long sleeve under his t-shirt or a long sleeve shirt. Very simple and comfy!

At daycare they will still put him on the potty - it starts in daycare at 18 mts old! They record it as "potty attempt"

Re: What do you dress your kids in for nursery school/daycare?

Thanks everyone! He has tons of sporty comfy clothes so he's all set!

I don't think they'll be putting him on the potty - it's more of a nursery school and he's only there for two hours/two days a week. I think I'm in the clear.

Re: What do you dress your kids in for nursery school/daycare?

I would dress him comfortably - they told us at new parent night on Thursday to not bring DD in good clothes - they suggest leggings and jeans etc. Tees and sweaters. They said to keep in mind that a lot of stuff might get paint on it and I don't know about your preschool but DD's takes them outside year round for playground time everyday that doesn't rain - (they go out even in the snow). So you might want to keep that in mind when shopping.

We are going today to look for clothes b/c I realized I only have a few dresses and one or two pairs of jeans (they don't allow dresses or skirts unless it is the child's bday).
