Re: What do you think about showers for the second time around (sprinkle)?

WHy has no one asked the obvious question of, "why are you asking?" I'm planning on baby #2 for next year Deb...that's why I'm asking.
I appreciate your honesty on how you feel about this situation.
I know that my mom is going to throw me another shower and I'm not going to fight her on it. She just wants to invite friends and a few family members.
Although I know that each baby is celebrated in their own way, I don't want my 2nd born to look back and see all the pictures from Jared's shower and ask...why didn't I have one too?
thats sweet of your mom. I have to ask only b/c I never nor did my brother ask about shower pics but do kids really ask about these things? Have any of the mommies on here asked their moms why didnt have one for them if they are not the first child? just truly curious, not starting drama- would like to know for future

I was thinking the same thing My mom has pics from her shower with me, and none for my brother and sister and they have never asked. When you grow up you know how things of that sort are done so I don't think your child will be upset.

I personally don't see the point in it unless you're going to have multiple children or there is a huge gap between the oldest and youngest.
People buy you gifts for the second child and I feel you'll still be able to use your stroller, car seat, etc.

all babies are miracles and should be celebrated but i do think it makes the mother look greedy. if a mom is having her 2nd, 10 years later and the opposite sex, then maybe...

I think every baby should be celebrated. It's not about the gifts, in my opinion.

Re: What do you think about showers for the second time around (sprinkle)?
I won't be having one with #2. But honestly that's why I did everything neutral the first time. Unless there is a big age difference I don't think there should be a shower. I do think that every baby should be celebrated and I think those that would want to celebrate the new baby with presents would do so regardless of whether or not you have a formal shower.
