What do you think of push gifts?

I had no idea what this even was when I had my first DS. I told DH about it and he agreed to let me have my newborn shoot as a push gift for my second. DH previously thought it was a waste of money.

Is a push gift common?
Do you expect one?

I don't expect one, DH would never go for it and that's fine, I don't feel I need one.

i think they are becoming more and more common, although i've never heard of it until i read about it on LIF

DH got me a push present... even though i didnt "push" since i had a csection lol -- some like to call that a "gush present"

anyways -- my gush present was my new tattoo of DS's footprints!

ETA: i was def not expecting one & never would! although something would have been nice since i had one hell of a delivery

I find it unnecessary and have never asked DH for one... BUT apparently all the women he works with put this thought into his head and he asks me what I want as a push present every freakin day! lol

I dropped a hint about push gifts as a joke, way back before I even was pregnant. DH must have been listening that day because he surprised me with a trip to the jewlery store to pick out my "push gift". I was shocked, but I can't wear it until some pushing happens....less than 3 weeks to go!

not a fan! I don't even like the way it sounds. I would however accept a gift if given to me

I tore in 3 places - internally. I couldn't sit for 3 weeks. Sex hurt for 7+ months.

Damn straight I would have liked a push present, no matter WHAT it was called.

I never knew until recently it was called that. I know a lot of people who have gotten some piece of jewelery after having a baby (often associated with the kid's initial, birthstone or something like that).

I wouldn't expect one, but I wouldn't turn it down. DH read about it in some book and asked me the other day if I wanted one. I said I was happy to just do our newborn shoot and call that the gift, so that is what we are doing.

Oh yes! I want an eternity band of my baby's birthstone, if EDD goes as plan I'll be getting a ruby eternity band that I plan to make stackable with each new addition!

I dont expect one, but i have a feeling DH will get me one tho! which would be kinda nice even tho its not necessary!

I did not expect one, nor even mention it to DH.
BUT apparently he went out on his own and got me a pendant of a teddy bear with my daughters birth stone on it. We called the baby "Bear" so he thought it was fitting

I first brought this up to DH as a joke. . didn't really think he would even bite. .

supposedly not only am I getting one but he has had it for a while and I'm not due until 2.25!

They are nice and thoughtful if you can afford them but I don't find them necessary.

I had never heard of this concept before LIF -- a "push present".

No offense to anyone else, but to me it just seems like another "keeping up with the Jonses" notion of this site.

The baby is the gift, I don't need something materialistic from my DH as a "hey thanks for pushing my kid out" sort of thing.

But that's JMO.

I think I better be getting one this time around too! Push or no push...it's the very least he could do for making my nipples the size of pancakes for 9 months....
