Do you need a passport? What ID do you show to board the baby?

I'd bring a copy of his BC.

But since your DC is under 1, I wouldn't worry that much.

We've flown 4 times with DD and we've never had to show anything. She is 19 months.

I have never had to shown anything but I always have brought my DCs birthday certificate just in case. The airlines have the right to request it, especially if you aren't paying for their seat to ensure the child is under 2.

Domestically, we didn't have to show anything. We recently flew to Buffalo but stayed in Canada and her birth certificate was all that was required.

We've always bought a seat for Kaydyn so maybe that's why they haven't asked for anything.

We have flown with DD twice, once without a seat and once with. Maybe it was because she was over one, but they have never asked me for ID. But I always have her birth certificate just in case.

I've flown with my kids a ton of times. They are now 2 and 4 and I never bring anything for them. Actually the thought never even croseed my mind since no one that age has a photo id and a birth certifcate is not a photo id and doens't really verify their identity.

We flew to FL at the end of June and they didn't ask for anything. I brought her birth certificate just in case.

we weren't asked for anything....good thing because I told DH to make a copy of the baby's birth certicicate, and he accidentally copied his baptismal certificate instead!Chat Icon

We didn't have to show anything, but we kept a copy of his birth certificate with us just in case.

A passport is photo id, my DS has had one since he was 8 months old.

We were told by someone at Southwest that if you buy a seat, you don't need ID until they are 18.

We bring his passport anyway, I like to have it with us.

I just flew to Florida last week with DS, 2, and my two step sons, 12 and 9, and no one asked for anything. I also called air line ahead of time, Jet Blue, and they said domestically, children don't need id.

Don't you still have to go through customs though? That's probably why they wanted DC to get one...

DS had one to cruise at 8mos

Honestly I didn't think for the USVI we would go through customs bc it's part of the US, I get a cruise bc you may go to islands that aren't a part of the US...I think there is a new rule that you need a passport for anywhere in the Caribbean....oh well it's done now and I'm still going to bring it either way...

Oh I know why *we* needed it, we went to MexicoChat Icon

I was saying that I thought when we went to USVI Islands I thought we went through customs or a modified version of it? I could be wrong
