What else can we do in Mystic besides Mystic Aquarium?

So we're thinking of taking our son who's 2 and half years old to Mystic Aquarium. Where else can we take him thats near by? I would like to pack in another place on the same day or maybe not.But if you all have any good recommendation, please let me know =) Also, do you all think going to Mystic aquarium just for one day is fine? We're thinking of just going and coming back the same day but in the evening. Tia!

A few hours is fine for the Aquarium. There is also a little outdoor shopping area across the street from that with cute little shops and restaurants. A few miles away on the water is an old seaport with boats to tour and other cute attractions that my kids liked - I forget where exactly but you can probably google it. But you would need to do that during the day. If you want to drive 20 minutes there is also an outlet center. I've taken my kids there a few times and we usually go Saturday morning and stay over, leaving Sunday morning but if you don't live too far away then you can definitely do it in one day.

The Seaport is great- they have a small planeterium and a children's play area.

They also have demonstrations and crafts for children. DS really loved it there. It's maybe 5 minutes away from the aquarium.

We also got dinner at Mystic Pizza which shows the film on a constant loop There were several old fashioned ice cream places around too.

We went to the little shopping village and the actual seaport. We also went to both Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods and walked around, shopped, and ate dinner. It was actually a lot of fun, DD enjoyed it. She was almost 3 when we took her.

I recently wrote a brief review on our trip to Mystic. There is also The Dinosaur Place which is 20 minutes from Mystic and The Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut.
