For a kitchen remodel, what do the contractors install first? The countertop or appliances?

Countertops....Here is usually the order.

Drywall and tape
floor
install cabinets
countertops and install sink on same day
install backsplash
install appliances

Now the backsplash you could do last if you couldn't decide on something, it is just easier if you are doing it behind a stove.

You should know what appliances you have prior as the countertop could be a different size. Example, I have a slide in stove and it goes over the stove on the sides and back.

OK thanks. Our contractors told us what size to get for each appliance. The floors have been done and they are in the middle of doing the cabinets. We ordered the appliances today. The countertop is coming Thurs and appliances are coming Friday.

We are 99% sure we are going to do white subway tiles as a backsplash so we can get them at Home Depot this week.

for me it was the appliances, everything was measured before though. It was just a matter of sliding them in.
