I never realized you can sell/ buy used furniture for 3k. For 3k my furniture needs to be brand spanking new. I also love when people sell couches for 300 and talk about rips or tears....throw it out or give away.
I think it really depends on the furniture. Some furniture is like 20k when new so buying it for 3k is a bargain. Also, certain vintage pieces are more expensive than new furniture. For instance a vintage Eames lounge chair costs $$$$. you've seen 20k furniture on these websites?

Re: What I learned from FB buy/sell groups.
If I spent $20k on furniture, DH would put me up for sale for free.

Yeah it seems like too much work to me.
But having a yard sale freaks me out too.
I guess dealing with the actual people who may show up at my house....the stories I've heard are enough to make me steer clear.

Re: What I learned from FB buy/sell groups.
Most of the furniture I have seen on there is stuff I wouldn't take if you gave it away free. But we did see a dining room table and 6 chairs - nothing spectacular but espresso wood, went with the rest of our stuff, nice enough - and we bought it for $300 when we first moved in to our house. The seller drove it home for us in her mini van :) we didn't have a dining room table except for the oval laquer one (no chairs) the prior owner had left us so it has been a great placeholder for us and we sold the one the prior owner left us for $75 on craigslist. Most of what I see though is what other people mentioned - Formica stuff for absurd prices.

I'm a huge snob I guess. I would never buy anything used. I'd rather buy something cheaper but new.

What I learned from FB buy/sell groups.
i'm so happy to see that folks in NJ aren't the only ones!
i thought that the reason for the crazy prices was because i'm so close to princeton... guess it's like this in other places.
people are crazy
