What is the job market like for librarians?
This year I am covering a library media specialist position and I am really enjoying it. After years of subbing I'm finding it challenging (in a good way) and interesting. It has been the spark I've needed in my professional life.
I know it would be a whole other master's degree. My current master's degree (in Elementary Ed) is doing a whole lot of nothing for me (as I have complained about on here ad nauseum). I do not want to get another degree that is going to lead to nothing but more debt. I'm open to more than just working in a school. Any info would be appreciated.

I've never heard of the market being good for librarians. It's a relatively small field and people tend to stick in their job for a long time.

What is the job market like for librarians?
I don't think the market is good for librarians, especially school librarians within a district -- not sure about public libraries, college libraries, etc. Most schools located on LI typically only have 1-2 librarians depending on school size and student enrollment, so there's not many positions/openings.

Thanks all, I know this thread was old. I've abandoned the idea. I can't get another masters and be stuck not having a job.
My position ends in June and I'm so depressed.
