What is the rule of thumb for facing the car seat forward??
My Dr. says 20 lbs and a year.....but is that too soon?? DD is a year and 23 lbs. Walking also.

Personally I would say to keep your DD read facing as long as possible. It is the safest position for her. I think the Britax convertibles can be rear facing until 35 pounds or so.

The law is 20 pounds and one year as a minimum. The baby is safest rearfacing up to the limit of the carseat (usually 33 pounds)...

I had to turn Damien right after his first birthday because he was too big. Jaidy is a peanut and she didn't get turned until she was about 18 months.

Even if their knees are in their chest, it's still safer to have them rear-facing as long as possible. There have been no documented cases of leg injuries of DC who are tall and rear-facing. I would try and wait until at least 18 months.
