what is your total habitable living space SQUARE FOOTAGE?
and if you can break that down by room, that would be awesome.
here's a poll to dance on
ETA: I went from a 4 story brownstone to a 3 bedroom apt, so my perception is wacked. this is not meant to be a c0(k fight.

I voted for what we *will* have by the end of the year (by the end of the summer, hopefully). About 2700. 1500 was more than enough for just me and DW, but two DC really take up a lot of room!

Bigger than a bread box...but not by much. I seriously think there is one spot in the house, that if I stand there....I can look into all 4 rooms of the house.

Re: what is your total habitable living space SQUARE FOOTAGE?
I just looked at our plans and did the math L X W = sq footage.
Entire first floor which is completely open, including the mudroom and half bath, formal sitting room, formal dining room, family room, eat in kitchen with island Not including the garage, since we dont use this as living space is 1250 sq ft
Upstairs we have 3 guest bedrooms one is 132 sq ft, double door closet two is 134 sq feet double door closet three is 150 sq feet double door closet, this room has high ceiling it makes it look alot bigger
Our master suite is on the 2nd floor as well including both closets and our master bath and bedroom it is 524 sq ft
We also have a laundry room on the 2nd floor that is 40 sq ft
guest bath on 2nd floor is 40 sq feet
Our 2nd floor is smaller because we opted out of a 5th bedroom for a 2 story ceiling when you walk in.
The basement which is the entire length of the first floor minus the mudroom is 1180 sq ft
With the basement, wich will be finsihed with gym, theater, bath, office the entire house equals 3450 sq ft
without the basement 2270 sq ft
HTH took me some time to do the math calculations

Re: what is your total habitable living space SQUARE FOOTAGE?
Our house is probably over 4000sq ft, but probably not by much over.
I don't have the breakdown for you, but all our rooms with the exception of one of the upstairs bedrooms are fairly large. I know our finished basement is approx 900sq ft - It's bigger than my old apartment which was 800, so I'm approximated there.
Here are some old pictures of my kitchen from when we first moved in. All of the rooms on the main level of our house are fairly large and open.

Re: what is your total habitable living space SQUARE FOOTAGE?
J - you've been at my house, so you can use that as a basis for judgement.
The "livable" sq. footage (what's counted on the appraisal) is 964 sq. ft. That would be our first floor.
The finished basement adds on another 750 sq feet.

Re: what is your total habitable living space SQUARE FOOTAGE?
Our two bedroom Co-op is 800sf. the master is 187 sf. second br is 90 kitchen is 100 bath is 40 the rest is living room/ dining room combo. When i first bought the place, it was perfect for me and my two cats, now that I'm married, it is very small. We both have too much stuff.

Re: what is your total habitable living space SQUARE FOOTAGE?
Our Square footage based on the footprint is 1725 SF, but our actual livable space (not including closets, stairwells, hallways) is 1377 SF
I actaully have the floor plan drafted in CAD because I have been running through ideas for our remodel - I just took a screen shot, so I'm not sure if it'll will be readable. We have a 100 year old farm house, so the living spaces are good size but the bedrooms are really small. This is now:
and this is one of my ideas for the remodel (this is making the 2 upstairs porches enclosed and part of the living space)
I hope this helps!

Re: what is your total habitable living space SQUARE FOOTAGE?
Ours is 2700 square feet not including the basement or the attic which is a walk up and we will be finishing.
With the basement it's 4050. I don't know what the attic is.

Re: what is your total habitable living space SQUARE FOOTAGE?
I would guess about 1400 square feet
about 600 more then we used to have
and still way to small for us- and the "fur kids"
we are looking for a house atleast double that- which is about the size of house I grew up in-
we loose a whole room to storage- since it's an apartment- and both of our parents moved- we have everything we have ever owned with us- which stinks
we need a house with a full basement, 2 car gargage etc

Re: what is your total habitable living space SQUARE FOOTAGE?
about 1700 sq ft. If your layout is good that is a good sized home.
Our layout isn't.
We would love to have a differen layout..even though I love the charm of my house.
This isn't our forever home though..we will eventually upgrade.

We have about 1550 sq. ft. in a 2-level hi-ranch (4 bedroom, 3 full bath).
ETA: Our house is listed at 1850 sq. ft., but that includes our 300 sq. ft. back deck!
