i got the inland north for some reason. i have never even been to that part of the country. real accurate test.

DH got that too, and he is from Buffalo. That is totally his accent.

I have a Midland accent, which is about right because a lot of people don't think I am from LI. I have the non-accent accent.

yeah, i dont know why i got it. i have been to buffalo once, and i grew up on long island. i have never had a strong long island accent, so maybe that is why. i havent lived on long island permanently for a while (2-3 years) so maybe that is why. but still, you cant change your accent once you go past the age of 15. i dont get it.

my husband took it. he got northeast accent. 
(he is from australia)
it was the horrible question that made me sound like i was from the inner north. i answered like whore.

Thats so bizarre because I got Inland North also, but its probably because I have been living abroad for so long...I probably sound more trans-atlantic (ala Madonna) these days...but when on LI, I sound LI...
I am friends with a girl from NJ whos accent sounds HORRIBLE to me...she has been here for 10 years, I have been here for 7 years...I hope I don't sound like that to other people!

Northeast but that makes sense...born in Brooklyn, raised in LI work in NYC..what else could I possibly sound like?
I also took diction classes to get rid of a very strong accent that bothered me a great deal.

Funny thing, raise in NY my whole life, but I got...MIDLAND
Not bad, actually. That means I sound most like general american english...which is good for an SLP...or a news anchor

i tend to think that test is hard to administer considering it's a written test and not a speech test.

that is strange. i dont say things in an Australian accent, but at times i do have the intonation of certain things, b/c i do have to teach my students how some words are said here compared to how i say them, so they know.
but when i drink my NY accent comes out...
