what kind of music were/are you parents into?

what did you hear them listening to growing up?

My mom was a teenager in the 70's and definitely a child of her generation.

She named me after an Allman Bros Band song (the runner up was Sweet Melissa, also by ABB)

she LOVED Led Zepp, Pink Floyd, Molly Hatchet, Men at Work, the Beatles...I remember sitting on our living room floor with her when John Lennon was shot (I was 6, I think)

my father is a latin jazz musician, so I was exposed to many other types of music as well. Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Winton and Brandford Marsalis, Buddy Rich...of course Tito Puente...and my day knew these guys (and still knows and is friendly with some of them to this day)

soooo....who did your parents rock out to when you were young?

eta: totally forgot Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band I do hate them though...for some unknown reason LOL

My parents are older (70's) so they listened to Perry Como and music like that when I was growing up.

I grew up listening to B103.
My mom was a deadhead, and a child of the 60s. She likes all that business- Beatles, Moody Blues, Allman Bros., CCR, Rolling Stones.
My dad likes jazz, classical, blues. I bought hima Nora Jones CD- he loves that.
They meet in the middle with doo-wop/ Motown - one of my faves.
LOL- he used to come pick us up at the mall with all the car windows rolled down and classical music THUMPING. that was the best.

My dad loves his latin music. But they both like the 50's; 60's; the oldies.........like from the old 101.1 WCBS-FM Cousin Brucie Days.

My parents are into a lot of Motown. But then they are also into Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison, Emerson, Lake, & Palmer.

My parents were into Classic Rock - The Doors, Beatles, Led Zepplin, The Dead. I grew up listening to all of it and I love the music still.

Growing up they listened to Sinatra and doo wop stuff. When I was in HS they started listening to WLIR with me and my brother!!

They went to Billy Idol concerts on their own!!

My parents were in their teens & very early 20's in the 70's. They are hard core disco s**ks fans, aka loved rock. My mom especially. My Dad loves music of the late 60's.

My dad listened to CBS FM / Cousin Brucie 50s music all the way up to the 70s...

My mom was into the Beatles mostly.

On Sunday mornings they always had on the italian station on AM and they LOVE Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons (they were in their glories when they saw Jersey Boys).

Everytime I hear those type of songs I smile because it brings back so many great memories!!!!!!!!

CBS/FM was my dad's favorite station!

ETA: My mom listens to today's music and she loves disco and freestyle

Mom is a little hipper than that...shes into 80's and current soft rock (shania twain, leann rhimes, kelly clarkson, etc)

My parents loved DOOWOP and alot of disco stuff. My dad also loved the Beatles. But what I remember most is that they listened to alot of Julio Iglesias and Barbra Streisand.

My Mom: Neil Diamond, Hooked on Classics , Barbara Streisand

My Dad is a HUGE Eric Clapton fan, has been since he first started. My mom was into music like the beatles, rod steward, stuff like that.
Today they like a lot of kinds of music except hip-hop.rap. My dad is still very into the bluesy stuff.

My dad was really into musicians like- Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton, The Who, Jimmy Hendrix etc..

My mom loved the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkle and she pretended to like the music my dad did lol

and they both loved "The Oldies"

My dad tends to stay pretty up to date with music too so he likes the "music of today" too
