What kinds of activities does DC do?
Currently, DS is enrolled in swimming. I just cancelled my My Gym membership because I felt like it wasn't working for DS anymore. He enjoyed going, but ran off from the group too many times. I'm looking for another activity either after school or weekends. DS is 4 1/2 with PDD-NOS

DS just started gymnastics at Elite Gymnastics.
So far he seems to like it, but it's usually all girls in the class.

DS is in swimming and he also bowls after school on tues. with our districts special ed program (its bumper bowling). :)
Last Spring/Summer he played soccer & tee ball with an organization called "Team Heroes". It was great and it's open to students all over Long Island with Autism.

What kinds of activities does DC do?
DS is 5 and we tried a lot of things but none really worked for him. he was just accepted into ANCHOR this year, so he will be going to camp, and during the school year bowling and possibly swimming.

A3CM, ANCHOR is a wonderful program!! I worked there as a teenager and would love for my DS to have the opportunity to go there! I'm sure your son is going to have a wonderful experience! Did it take long for him to be accepted or is this the first time you applied?

i put him on the waiting list at 2 years old... he will be 6 at the end of the summer, so i would way about 3.5 years we waited. but i also know that they aren't considered until 5.
i have friends who put their child on at 4 and didnt get in until they were about 7/8.
it seems though this year a lot of ppl were accepted

P.S. When I registered for Elite they had a whole section asking if your DC has any kind of special needs so I am thinking they are probably SN friendly.
I also have noticed in some of the classes with older kids, around dance and gymnastics, there are a lot of kids that don't fit the traditional "dancer" mold.
I think this is awesome.

we do swimming, we do T-ball, soccer, and onec it gets nicer Im going to enroll him in therapeutic riding.

We do music/art therapy and 1:1 swim instruction. Looking into horse back riding therapy.

DD does social skills classes and swimming. We're going to be adding more into the mix in the fall!

She goes to Kid Esteem in Lindenhurst. It's been really great so far and has helped her tremendously! Also great for networking with other special needs parents

Gold Medal Gymnastics has SN classes. We didn't do that class, but the instructors in the typical groups have always been great.
