What looks better on an "older" man?
When a guy starts to lose their hair, what do you think is the best way to deal with it?
DW and I both agree that it's so much more dignified to just accept it and let it go. I keep my hair pretty short. 3/4 of an inch offset on the hair trimmer, and I cut it when it's about 1.5 inches, so there's no chance of a comb-over there....
I've seen so many men try the comb-over, surgery, toupe's, etc. It looks very obvious to me, and I think it looks worse, and they seem even older when they are trying to hide it.

Re: What looks better on an "older" man?
I would say try something.
Personally something I love about my DH is his hair--it is the most beautiful strawberry/blonde--i would be so sad if he lost it....
I think it is worth a shot to try to save it!
WIth that said...I do not think I would want a toupe or replacement hair bc it could never match his hair color since it is so unique
ETA: My brother started thinning--used rogaine and his hair is so much fuller !

DH has had thinning hair since they day I met him...dosn't bother me. He's asked if he should consider Rogaine or Propecia or something, and I tell him hell no.
Better to accept it IMO!

I looooove bald guys DH has been going bald since he was 24. He shaves his head now and I think it's so sexy. I love that he is going bald, because I don't think he'd shave his head if he wasn't, and I totally prefer that look!
I've always loved bald guys though... ever since Jean Luc Picard

That's why I put "older" in quotes.... I started losing my hair in my late 20s. I wouldn't consider that old, but typically, hair loss is when you get older.
I hate spending any more time than needed on my hair. Shaving my entire head would be too much work for me. Drugs and cream would also be too much time (and money). With the drugs and creams, you spend all that time and money to grow your hair, then spend more time and money to cut it!

The surgical hair transplant method takes his actual hair from below where his hair is still thick, then transplant the follicles into the balding area.... sort of like a Barbie doll....

In that case yeah I would totally support him in that decision.
HE would have to suggest it--I would not insult him by suggesting it--but knowing my DH if he does start to bald he will want to do something....
I might get flamed but I prefer hair ...sorry

Re: What looks better on an "older" man?
I say "just let it go" Either that or shave it bald, but only certain men can pull off the bald look. Otherwise, really all you can do is just deal with it. Combovers, toupes, wigs...they all look so bad. I've seen this guy a few times on my commute..utterly disturbing..who has some kind of spray-on textured hair. It's really hard to describe, but since it looks so other-worldly, it's very disturbing to see on a person.

I agree! My DH is bald but I am not insulted if a woman says she prefers hair, you can't help what you find attractive!
Thanks girls!
I do find some bald/shaved head men attractive--LL Cool J anyone? but on my DH I just do not think it would work!

No need to get flamed for your preferences. I'm sure your DH prefers you with hair as well (yes, some women DO go bald...).
As long as you don't try to glue a toupe on my head, it doesn't bother me if you like hair or not....

Re: What looks better on an "older" man?
LMAO that I am only 1 of 2 people who think they need to at least try the creams/drugs!
DH and I were actually just talking about this last night. He hasnt started losing his hair but he said if he did he'd have to at least try something because he shaved his head in college and just doesnt look good that way. I think some guys look great that way but I think it depends on the guy...

I'm a bald lover too.
There is nothing worse than someone who is clinging desperately to their hair...its so bad looking...if you're starting to thin and you rogaine, fine, but I'm talking about the guys whose scalp I can see....lol
Let it go!

Plus, studies have shown that baldness is caused by excess testosterone.... I'm OK with that...

Re: What looks better on an "older" man?
When my dad started losing his, he just buzzed it really short. Then one day, he buzzed a little too close so now he completely shaves it every few days (as a side note, not that long ago he won a raffle at a Boy Scout event for a free haircut ). DH keeps his buzzed really short too because he's losing some.
If it's just starting, and especially for younger guys, trying the drugs, creams might be worth it (depending on the side effects).

Re: What looks better on an "older" man?
let it go..
My dh has been shaving his head for almost as long as I've known him.
He had "hair" when we first met, but we were just acquaintances then.
He has a whole slew of baldies for friends too.
