What non-lullaby songs do you sing to your child?
I sing "Soul Meets body" - the chorus - to Cailen - by Deathcab for Cutie.... Today I played it for him and sang along, and he recognized the song and got so excited!!!
What song do you sing to DC that isn't a kid song?

I sing just about any song that pops into my head.
Lately it has been My Girl........oh and a super, super clean version of 50 Cent's Disco Inferno

Oh yes. The poop songs.
My favorite is:
"Who's got the stinks
You've got the stinks"
Sung to the tune of "We want the funk."
We also have a Swaddle My Boy lullaby I sing every night.
I'm building quite the songbook.

Let's Get Physical, except I sing, "Who wants some cereal? Cereal? Who wants some cereaaaal? Let's have some cereal. Let me see you open wide. Open wide."
I basically sing to her all day. I just make up all the words using melodies to songs that already exist. I can't help it. I'm a musician.

I can't sing, but she's really amused when I try. I usually make up songs or butcher nursery tunes ( you know Wheels on the Bus, There's a Hole in the Bucket Dear Hannah, Old MacDonald, etc.)
Once in a while, when I'm feeling crazy, I throw in some Sound of Music or Annie.

Us too! But my DH makes up the best ones. A woman at the pool was behind him when he was singing to her and came up to him with tears in her eyes to tell him how wonderful it was.

Please sing to her! It's so important. It helps their brains develop and it helps them learn, and it doesn't matter if you have a good voice or not. As a music teacher, I had to make that plea

cadence hears every broadway show... I put her name in songs from all the shows..haha... she also likes opera... my poor child is gonna end up an opera singer like her mommy

Bright Side of the Road - Van Morrison
Someday, someway - Marshall Crenshaw
DH sings Peggy Sue, Going Down the Road Feeling Bad and any other Dead song he's just listened to.

I think the only lullaby that I sing to DS is Baby Mine. He mostly hears standards, showtunes (lots of showtunes), 60's, 70's and 80's. Oh, and a lot of made up songs!!

I really could release a CD next month
by the way.....I think I've converted DH. I seriously walk around singing ALL day. He used to tease me that Jack's 1st words were going to be sung, not spoken and now DH's resorted to making up his own songs. I'm so proud

We sing a lot of Smiths songs in the style of slow pretty songs...we find it funny, the lyrics are so grim!!!
