None. For the average person to wear them is just pretty silly, IMO.

I agree w/ you!

I agree as well

Whats so silly about it, if someone can afford to buy a few things?

Re: What percentage of your clothes are designer?

zero. I can't afford that kind of stuff. It also doesn't really fit into my lifestyle... maybe if I had a job at hearst mags or something, but for my end of publishing, it would be ridiculous to buy designer clothing.

what does being able to afford it have to do with it? I think many people here could probably afford it, but i can't rationalize spending that sort of money on clothing.. just because of the label.. just for show... what's the point? it's just silly to me, and has nothing to do with whether or not one can afford it... The point is, if thats what people like to wear, whats the difference? I have things that are designer because I like them, not to show off.

Zero, I think. I'm thinking of designer in the way Chatham was describing...the high end designers. Just not one of my priorities.

I have a few CK Collection pieces - that's only because I get them through work.

I have some Oscar de la Renta shoes that I got for a steal, but other than that I buy mainstream labels.

Re: What percentage of your clothes are designer?

I would say 90% of my closet is Ann Taylor.

The only "designer" things I have are dresses for special occassions and shoes.

But again, most of my shoes are Nine West and I have a couple pairs of fancy ones.

Well now this has officially turned into another thread about people judging and feeling the need to share negative opinions on how others spend their money.

The "board" has spoken.

I mostly buy designer bags, shoes, and jeans. Unless I see an AMAZING deal on anything else I shop at normal stores.

I love designer clothing also. I would not consider myself stupid to buy designer clothing it is just a matter of preference for me and I do not have to go above my means to accomplish it.

oh lord.. get over yourself.
i don't see where it 'officially turned into' anything. Chat Icon i think you need to calm down... i said i thought something was silly... others agreed... nowhere did ANY of those people (myself included) say that anyone was less of a person because of it.. just stated OPINION.. i'm sure you have a bunch of your own. I think the average person spending that sort of money on clothing is Silly.. you may think leather pants are silly... its all a matter of opinion. If someone is offended by something as silly as 2% of their wardrobe being called "silly" they have bigger issues to concern themselves with.

maybe pick a more powerful platform to advocate for next time Chat Icon

Probably 10% or so. They are only mine because they were such a bargain.

My mother taught me well. I've never paid anything close to retail.

Besides a few handbags - nothing! I am too fat to wear designer clothing.

None. I am not into labels. I buy what fits my fat arse and what's comfortable. I don't work anymore, so I don't even have a need for suits or dress clothes.

I don't know about you girls, but I'm often disappointed in the quality of some of the big house designers. The only ones I've ever thought were worth it were St. John, Loro Piana & Escada. Everything else is so flimsy, so poorly constructed.
