What size bed 6-7 year olds?
We are going to be buying new furniture for my kids within the next few months and I am trying to figure out what size bed I should get.
I was thinking full, just not sure if it is really necessary. Is twin really that small for kids as they hit the teenage years?
I don't want to invest now and regret it. Their bedrooms are about 9'7" x 11'.

Re: What size bed 6-7 year olds?
If their bedrooms are that size I'd get a twin for both.
I grew up with a twin bed with a room about the same size. Slept in it until I could afford to move out at 26.
I know the push these days is for double beds for kids but I think other parts of the country, newer construction and cheaper real estate areas are dictating that trend.
In a typical late 1950's LI 3 bedroom ranch or 4 bedroom cape, I can't imagine anything less than a twin bed for a child's bedroom. More room to move around the room.

I think a twin is fine. I slept in a twin and never felt like there was not enough room. My DD is 6 and has a twin size bed. I'm glad she has the extra space in her room by having a twin size bed.

DS is 6 and in a twin. He's fine! I was in a twin until my last night home before I got married. Nothing wrong with it.

Twin. I don't see any reason for a kid to be in a bigger bed. I was in a twin bed until I moved out of my parents house.

Twin is fine if the rooms are that small. After all, a twin is half of a king bed - seems like plenty of room to me.

Me too! We bought DS a captains bed made for a twin mattress when he was 4. He was in a toddler bed before that.

I slept in a twin bed until I moved out at age 22. I don't plan on getting anything bigger than a twin for my kids, I'd rather than have more space in their rooms than a huge bed.

What size bed 6-7 year olds?
I slept in a twin bed until I moved out/got married; however we recently turned DS#2 crib into a full, and it was weird that the younger DC had a bigger bed; so when it came time to get DS#1 new furniture- we bought him a full as well!

I slept in a twin bed until I moved out. My DD has a full only because her crib converted to a full size. My DS has a twin and he'll stay in it until he buys his own bed.

Re: What size bed 6-7 year olds?
DS will be 6 next week and he is in a twin sized bed. He has been since he was 2 years old. Until we get another house, he will be in a twin sized bed. I will likely need to get him a full size bed at some point or an extended twin because he is 4'2" as an almost 6 year old. I assume at some point he will need something larger for length (both of my brothers and my father need extended length beds for height.)
I was in a twin size bed all through high school and college. I got a full size bed after I graduated. Once I married DH we got a queen size bed.

What size bed 6-7 year olds?
Full size bed is the best choice you can make as children grows faster in height and if you buy small bed then after some period you will require to change it and that will increase nothing but your expenses.

I don't quite understand this as every college dorm has twin beds.
I am a fan of kids in twins, as I think it's cruel to get them used to a bigger bed and then they get to college and they are back in a twin .

I don't understand this either since a twin and a full are the exact same length. I personally see nothing wrong with my child sleeping in half of a king bed (a twin) since its likely as an adult that is all they're geting! LOL

Dd only has a full bc I converted the crib into a sleigh bed. I love it but there is def less room. I also grew up in a twin. That's more then enough.

Re: What size bed 6-7 year olds?
DS has a full and our only real reasons were b/c it fit in his room and we had the crib that converted to a headboard & footboard and I really wanted to use it. It also makes it easier for bedtime stories as I just climb right in with him. He's younger, though & I don't know how long he will want this. I don't think it is truly necessary otherwise.

Re: What size bed 6-7 year olds?
My older DS has a full and I really wanted my younger one to have a twin because his room is smaller. DH didn't think that was fair so we will be converting his crib to a full size bed this month. And DS will have absolutely NO room for playing in his room.

Re: What size bed 6-7 year olds?
My kids rooms are about the same size and they have twin beds. IMO, it is WAY more important for them to have the space to play rather than sleep.
I had a twin bed all the way through college and it was never an issue.

Re: What size bed 6-7 year olds?
Twin.. its leaves more space
I had a twin until I moved out on my own. Ironically college made a big diff. Kids with bigger beds at 'home' fell off bunks a lot LOL
I was already used to a twin. Never fell out of bed
(unless I was drunk)
Got a queen hand me down when I was in my second apt. So.. 20ish or so.
ETA: We have a full size in our spare room (brother is living there now) and its a 10X12. Doesn't leave much room for anything else. AJ has a full size but her room is 12 X 15 or something.
