What table foods does your 8-9 month old eat?
DS is almost 9 months old. He finally figured out how to feed himself puffs and is doing great with them. I haven't been too adventurous with table food yet. He has had cottage cheese and regular cheese, avocado, and small pieces of fruit.
Daycare asked permission to give DS some of the food on the toddler menu. The teacher is giving me a menu tonight to look over.
What table foods does your DC eat?
I'm also a little torn about giving DS the food from daycare. Right now, everything we give him is organic and most of it is homemade. I know I'll have to give him the daycare food in 5 or 6 months when he moves up to the toddler room, but I'm not sure I want to move away from organic and freshly prepared food right now. If you were in a similar situation, what did you do?

Everything She literally wants everything we're having so I give her a taste of everthing....I've bought a bunch of Dr. Prager things too she looooved the spinach burgers. She's had veggie burgers, cheese, pieces of chicken, meat etc...eggs, bread, you name it...we haven't given her any fish yet or anything really random, but just if we're eating something basic sh'ell have a taste... ETA: We eat mainly organic so most if not all is organic foods, also peas, blueberries etc....

Re: What table foods does your 8-9 month old eat?
i still give organic, just organic table foods freshly prepared now..instead of puree.. i bake and cut pieces of fruit and veggies, and freeze them in tupperware, when she wants them i break a few off and defrost.. i also do lots of frozen organic peas, blueberries, anything they sell frozen with no additives.. whole wheat cracker pieces with organic cheddar for lunch, organic baked potatoe pieces, with steamed broccolli purree shes even had prganic small macaroni shells with melted cheese..
if your dc likes meat, you could buy some frozen meat, cook it, cut it into portions, and freeze those..
eta: the peas and blueberries are great because i can take a few out, put them in a bowl and theyll defrost on their own by the time she needs to eat them..and your dc can eat them as finger foods alone..also beans are great for this..i buy organic ones by the bag at whole foods

Re: What table foods does your 8-9 month old eat?
Slow start here too. 9 mths but developmentally more like 8 mths (she was a mth early).
DD just figured out how to self feed the puffs. I tried to give her cut up teeny peices of banana yesterday and they kept slipping out of her pudgy little fingers.
I also tried wet cheerios (I am very worried about choking). Those were eh, ok.
I have given egg yolk, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, american cheese, pastina, mashed banana, yogurt.
I am petrified of giving small peices, to me it barely looks she is mashing food with her gums. In fact, DD isn't crawling yet, so motor skill wise, I feel since she just started doing good with the puffs, she may just starting to be ready.
What kind of food do they want to give him? I would be hesitant to let them give DS anything that you aren't giving....for safety reasons more than anything.

Re: What table foods does your 8-9 month old eat?
waffles, cheese, banana, mashed potatoes - I just gave them grilled cheese today and they loved it! The waffles, and grilled cheese I put little pieces down on the tray and they pick them up and eat them. I discovered I can only put on piece down at a time or they grab a handful and shove it all in their mouth at once.

Yes, this is what DD does with the puffs so max I will put down is 2 or 3.
How did you make the grilled cheese and what size peices do you put down?

Re: What table foods does your 8-9 month old eat?
We basically give DS everything we eat. He's had ham, chicken, burgers, pasta. He LOVES pasta lol. He ate eggs and pancakes this morning. Basically anything DH and I are eating. Some things he doesn't like, or doesn't "get", but for the most part he eats anything and everything.

DD has had grilled cheese as well and bagel with cream cheese (not the crust) the dough part...she actually chews you see her put it to the side of her mouth and chew...we give her small pieces nothing too big, bc I'm still anal about choking. With pieces of cheese I actually noticed my MIL giving her too small pieces where she would just swallow the pieces which really didn't sit well with me so I would rather giver her a bit bigger pieces so she actually chews it and not downs it whole

DS isn't crawling yet either. Within the last week, he started really doing well with feeding himself the puffs. Daycare gave him cheerios and part of a wheat roll today. I looked at the menu they sent home and I wouldn't mind him getting most of the meals or at least parts of those meals. There are definitely things I don't want him to have yet. The teachers told me to look through the menu and let them know what they can give him.
