What time do your little ones go to bed on School Nights?

I am having difficulty getting DS on a more school appropriate schedule. lol. He and my husband are great stallers of bedtime! lol

Anyway I am sure we will need to adjust during school, but what time do your kids go to bed on school nights, and what time do they need to leave the house for school?

I am worried about having enough time in the AM to get DS up, moving, fed, dressed, etc....we arent very fast in the mornings!

Re: What time do your little ones go to bed on School Nights?

My DD used to go to bed pre-summer at 745 (she's 5 now). This summer w/ BBQs. beach nights, etc. it's been closer to 9.

I'm hoping to get back to 8pm bedtimes once school starts. She needs to be up by 7:30 & school starts at 9:00.

DD is starting K. Bus comes at 8:05, so I plan on getting her up 7-7:15. Bedtime will be 715-730.

My kids go to bed between 8:30-9:00 year round. I used to wake DS up at 8 the latest to get ready and catch his bus by 8:35. DD is usually good about getting up early and doing what she needs to do independently. We'll see how it goes now that she'll be getting on the bus as well.

8:30/9pm. DS is 9 and going into 5th grade.

He is a morning person so he is up without me having to wake him at 7:30am and we have to be out the house by 8:55.

DS is 7, in 3rd grade. Bedtime is 8pm (start getting ready at 7:45), but we read together everynight; so lights out is usually around 8:15. The bus comes at 8:30a and school starts at 9a

DD is 6 (1st grade) and she is in bed between 8-8:30.
DS is 8 (3rd grade) and bed is 9:00, but he pushes that A LOT!

I wake them at 6:30. They eat breakfast and the bus picks them up at the door at 7:15 am.

Right now, they're in bed by 8:15.
I may have to push it back to 8.
DS' bus will be picking him up at 7:40. School starts at 8:05AM
DD goes in at 9, but, I'm driving her, so, I can get her ready once DS is on the bus.
DD is 3, but, still naps here and there.
She's going to be in school FT, so, I may be pushing her back to 715-730PM.
I'll see how the first week goes.

Ages 6.5 and 9, going into 2nd and 4th grades.

Both will be in bed with lights out at 8:30 and asleep by 9. Same as last year and most of the summer. We have to be out the door at 8. I feel like my younger one needs an extra 1/2 hour of sleep but I cannot get her to fall asleep 1/2 hour before the older one so she will often stay in bed until 7:30am but they really should be up at 7 so we're not rushed.

If I only had the little one I would put her in at 8 but not easy with 2 that share a room.

Re: What time do your little ones go to bed on School Nights?

all summer we tried very hard to keep bedtime 8/8:30 once in a while 9 if we were out doing something fun ...because i knew once school started we would be on our usual strict bedtime and i didnt want the kids to be too far off their usual time...

kids shower at 7:15pm and then immediate after is bedtime. so by 8/8:15 they are asleep sometimes sooner!
School starts 8:55am. we are walkers so we will leave 8:50am since i drive them around the block. I have a morning and evening schedule for the kids to follow hanging on the fridge, and they are NOT allowed to watch tv in the mornings so they arent distracted.

We also lay out everything for the next day, before bedtime (clothes, socks, shoes, backpacks and anything that needs to be sent into school, lunch and snacks are done etc) to save time in the AM.

(DD is turning 7 this month going into 2nd grade)
(DS is turning 5, going into kindergarten)

i work 2 jobs so we need to be very organized in our house so we can all get to where we need to be in the AM on time and the kids know what they are expected to do as well...they get dressed on their own, and try to do as much as possible independantly.

Re: What time do your little ones go to bed on School Nights?

Around 8:30pm

DS was very good at waking up and getting ready for preschool so I hope he is the same way for kindergarten. I will adjust his bedtime according to how he slept the night before, if he seems tired, to account for sickness, etc. So bedtime is flexible in our house. Chat Icon

Re: What time do your little ones go to bed on School Nights?

7 and 8 years old. They are in their rooms at 8:30.

My 8 year old ( in 4th grade) falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow and is up, on his own, no later than 6am.

My 7 year old (2nd grade) keeps rock star hours and is still awake when I go to bed at 10ish. We drag him out of bed at 8:30 for school.

Re: What time do your little ones go to bed on School Nights?

OMG...now I feel bad.

My 7 year old and 10.5 YEAR OLD both go to bed at 8:00pm

The 10.5 year old has been asking to go to bed later, but they have to be up at 7am, so I figured 8pm was a good bedtime.

Maybe I should rethink it. Chat Icon

DD is 5-she goes to bed at 8. We read every night, try to do that before 8, sometimes it takes until 8:15/8:30.

Re: What time do your little ones go to bed on School Nights?

For right now DS is asleep by 8:30. I will see how things work once he gets into the swing of things, but he has to be at school at 8:10 so I am hoping that 10+hours is enough for a almost 5year old!

Thanks!

Re: What time do your little ones go to bed on School Nights?

DD is in K. We have been going up for bed about 7:45 which means lights out by 8:15. On bath nights we start at 7:30.

She wakes up on her own at about 7:15 everyday and we leave for school about 8:40.

So far this has been working very well.
